Hi all! I''m trying to figure out what color I want the bridesmaids dresses to be so I can come up with a color scheme! I''m thinking either a deep blue (not royal or cornflower, but somewhere in between) or a teal.

I''m partial to the teal as I think it''s a little more unique and I love the color, but I have been having trouble finding dressmakers that offer it as an option! I have one size 12ish bridesmaid, two size 8ish bridesmaids, and a size 0 maid of honor, so I was thinking something with cap sleeves or a v-neck (although strapless might work), and I was thinking something more matte since my dress is lace and doesn''t shine at all.

Alfred Angelo has a teal color option, but no dresses that seem overly pretty to me.

Have any of you fantastic ladies seen pretty teal BM dresses in your searches??

As far as color... when and where is your wedding, what time is the ceremony? what is the price cap for your BM dresses?

I don''t know about teal, but I want to put in a plug for blue! I decided to go with a navy-ish color when I realized it''s way easier to get accessories, linens, etc in navy than in a more unique color. Just something to consider! Either color will be beautiful.

My wedding is 9/4/09, a Friday evening. It''s going to be hot and a little humid probably, so even though floor length gowns would be appropriate, I can get away with the shorter dresses. Ceremony will be about 5 or 6pm on a terrace rooftop overlooking the lake (I think!), and the reception will probably be in an old palace-style theatre in the center of downtown Madison, WI.

Price cap is about $200, although it could possibly go a little higher.

Thanks for the input elrohwen!!!

I wanted to do black BM dresses, but my mother thinks it will look like a funeral and I don''t mind humoring her, especially since my parents are paying for the wedding! She suggested navy, and I told her if she liked navy, I was just going to do black, since they''re not much different. I also have a phenomenal photographer and I think it''ll be awesome to have a real POP of color!

I may go back to the cornflowery color though, because that makes using hydrangeas easy, and they''ll be in season. But we''ll have to see what we come up with for dresses!!

My bridesmaids are wearing Mori Lee 744 in teal. I was originally planning on royal blue or navy, but when the two that went shopping with me tried on the sample in teal it was just so flattering on both of them. Here is the link--but the colors look quite different IRL than they do on my monitor. (The teal on the website looks much more green than it is IRL.)

You're welcome!

If you want blue, you can definitely find deeper blues that aren't too close to black. I knew I wanted a deep blue, but not a super dark navy. Not all dresses fit that, but I ended up finding a few that were gorgeous. I love that they have that pop of color, but navy linens will still match reasonably well. If you have near unlimited linen color choices, then I think you could go with blue or teal, I just know that was a concern of mine because my venue only has 10-15 color choices.

My favorite blue I've seen yet is from Vineyard Collection. It's available in satin and is called Calypso. You can check it out on this dress, just for an example: http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=602&sfid=50716&f= I think it's beautiful!

Hey there, KatyWI! I recently went bridesmaid-dress shoppping, and found a Belsoie gown in the Tiffany Chiffon material. I thought it was quite nice, very flowy, and not shiny. The color they had in the store was GORGEOUS, but all wrong for my venues. You can get this color and material in about 40 different styles on the website, and it comes in tea length or floor length.

IRL, this color is much deeper and richer, looks a bit flat on the computer screen.

ETA: This color is called "Teal" and their website is http://www.jasminebridal.com/J_2.aspx

Thanks diamondgirl and lee!! That''s exactly the kind of stuff I haven''t been able to find for myself! And it looks like both designers are available at local salons, so if I can get a couple of my girls together, we may have a decent shopping trip!!

I <3 you guys.
