Hi all. I finally purchased that Engagement ring and wanted to give some praise to PriceScope and BlueNile (I know that BlueNile comes with some mixed reviews but for me it was the best decision.)

About 2 weeks ago I posted some questions about purchasing a diamond on here and got a lot of great advice. With that advice I purchased the following:

DIAMOND:
Shape: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 5.76x5.79x3.52mm
Carat weight: 0.70 carats
Dept: 61.0%
Table: 57%
Girdle: Medium Faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Clarity: VVS-2
Color: D
Fluorescence: Faint
Certification: GIA Labs w/laser inscribed cert number

SETTING:
Metal: 18K Yellow Gold
Prong Metal: Platinum
# of Round diamonds: 12 (6 on each side)
Carat Total: 0.23
Average color: G
Average Clarity: VS2
Setting Type: Channel

Total Price paid, $5,039.00

BlueNile included an appraisal for $8,400.00 and after receiving the diamond I had it appraised by an independent appraiser (whom I found on this web site). He appraised it at $7,000.

During the appraisal he couldn’t help but say that I picked out a wonderful diamond and matching setting. This diamond is of excellent quality and the jeweler did a wonderful job setting the diamond. I have to admit, that I was very skeptical about purchasing such an expensive item “sight un-seen” over the internet. After the appraisal I was put at ease and am very happy with my purchase.

I know that BlueNile gets some mixed reviews and that it is “possible” for me to find a diamond with exact spec’s from another Internet Vendor. However, the 30-day return policy, ease of use, and from what I am being told from my appraiser, excellent jewelers, BlueNile can’t be beat. (In my opinion)

Thanks to all of you who assisted me with finding the correct diamond and PriceScope for being there. Now I am off to Vegas to propose. Wish me luck.

I too have my engagement ring from Blue Nile and I am extremely happy. My private appraisal was a little more than the Blue Nile appraisal, BN $4800 vs $5000. Chubb insurance is very good and they will cash you out without any hassles so use the BN appraisal. Anyway no matter what anybody says you have to go with what makes you feel comfortable. Good luck.

Congratulations on your purchase, and best of luck with the proposal!

I too have a BN diamond -I really believe that if you know enough to pick out a great cut, you can find a beautiful stone at Blue Nile. There's just more to sift through, and unlike other vendors here on PS, their signature series does not guarantee the best of the best in terms of cut. I think those are the main reasons for the mixed reviews. But I'm glad it worked out well for you!

Yes, it was a good purchase for me. I was so excited when looking around that after the purchase I don't have anything to do at work. Now I guess I start looking for a nice Valentines Day gift...probably also from BlueNile.

Congratulations... and pictures please!!!

Sorry about the picture. Don't have one as of yet, so I am posting the one BlueNile has on the web. Here it is.....
