Blue Nile or IDJ jewelry for diamonds?

Okay folks, I think I'm realizing cut is definitely more important than clarity.
So, thanks to @SimoneDi I have a fantastic option from BN.
The total would be around $5700 Cad for everything shipped to my address here in Canada.
Here are the diamonds and setting they are holding for me for 48 hrs:

My other option is IDJ jewelry in NY.
The thing with them is their diamonds are .35 but VS2 'PS' quality diamonds.
In order for me to save money, I'd have to take a 12 hour bus trip there and then another 12 hr bus trip back on the same day to make it cost around the same as the BN ring.

So, my question is: Are the BN ideal cuts better than GIA rated diamonds? I don't think BN gives GIA appraisals.
Am I better to get the IDJ jewelry diamond ring because of the VS2 quality vs Si1?
I listed the IDJ gems in attachments.

Let me know what you folks think! Or, should I keep looking?

is your budget CAD5700? All the diamonds you listed are about CAD700ish...
 
Pssst.... There are GIA lab reports for all 5 of those Blue Nile diamonds. Hit the GIA "button" beneath each of the videos & you'll then see a PDF of GIA's report for the stone.
 
Ship to buffalo and you can handle the fees duties whatever on your own.

Also, if you like the BN stones have you asked IDJ if they can get them for you and how much?
 
I got my oval from BN this morning, and it has the GIA cert as well as an appraisal for insurance purposes. I'm faaaaaar from a diamond expert so won't give recommendations on specific diamonds, but I can say I am beyond impressed with my experience with BN. My oval diamond was beautiful on the BN 360 video but is stunning in person.

Actually, my budget was less (around $5k), but I was willing to push it up to $5700 to get better quality diamonds :lol-2: Thanks to PS, I now know what to look for and see value in better cuts!

Very good point! I don't know if IDJ can get those diamonds for me! I didn't know that was possible. How do they get the same diamonds? Can any vendor get them?
I don't know how I could ship the item to Buffalo if I don't have anyone there. Besides, Yukutiel said he'd help me out if I paid cash.

Oh really? Would you mind sharing the specs on your diamond with us? I'd love to see a pic as well if you've got one!!!!! That's fantastic. Congrats on your new ring! :appl:Did you look around also? What made you decide on BN?

I like IDJs proposed diamonds as well. They all seem to be well cut, all G and VS-VVS clarity.
I also like the Buffalo idea since you are not too far from the town. FedEx does hold for pick up.

The BN options are nice as well. We can look for all G colors if you want since I mixed two Hs last time. I don’t think that the color difference will be visible, but for your own peace of mind, we can pick them all to be the same color.

Will IDJ offer an upgrade policy on these?

@SimoneDi Thanks for responding! I have to see what Yukutiel will say about shipping again. They told me that they'll reduce the price only if I pay them cash in hand. But, I'll see what I can do! :)

I'm guessing it won't cost very much to ship via Fed Ex to a location in Buffalo. Then from there I can pick up the ring and just wear it back home. I'll just do some shopping while I'm in Buffalo (which isn't a problem) :rolleyes2:

I'm honestly not concerned about color at all. I'm just happy to get well cut diamonds that meet PS approval!

I haven't asked about IDJ's upgrade policy. I don't know if I'll need to do an upgrade in the near future if I get all of the stones around .35 :mrgreen2::mrgreen2:

Thank you! I got a .91 Oval E, VVS2, Very good cut
depth 62.5% Table 63% symmetry and polish both excellent. No cutlet and med Flo. I was super worried about a bow tie and it looked like it may have a minimal one in the HD pics on BN but in person and in my pics I dont see one at all. I'm in love. I've spent the last few months looking at stones everywhere from B&M stores to JA, BN, and a bunch of online jewelry stores. I finally just bit the bullet. Chose BN because we've bought a lot of gold jewelry from them before this ring and the customer service was always fantastic. Figured i'd play it safe just in case I didnt like the stone.
