Blue Nile - Best Value For Quality?

Hi! I''m a newbie here. I''m looking for an engagement ring for my fiancé. I heard so much about Blue Nile. Is it legitimate? I compared the diamond prices to a local jeweler and there''s a huge difference. Are the diamonds real? If not, what other places have good diamonds for a reasonable price in the Bay Area?

I got a very nice diamond from there... they are legitimate. A rather big company actually. They are publically held too, apparently.

I don't know of ant good B&M stores in your area, but I bought my stone and ring from White Flash, and they were amazing to work with! I received better service from Denise than I've ever received at places like Tiffany's, and Denise went as far as to help me narrow down a spreadsheet with more diamonds on it than I care to remember to about 3. The diamond I ended up with is STUNNING!!! Not only was it cheaper to work with White Flash than Blue Nile, they have, IMO, better policies. Check them out!

Whiteflash was very accomodating when I was shopping. They gave me a sarin report when I asked, they gave me some good picks. They were nice to work with. Prices, IMO were similar. I went with blue nile simply because they had what I was looking for, while whiteflash didn't.

Bottom line, I think as long as you shop at respectable vendors, you won't have a problem shopping online. I was very hesitant at first, but after thinking about it, I realized that most brick and mortar jewlers had lied to me or tryied to rip me off. The rest didn't have very good prices. It makes more sense to go and buy from a large internet company with a good return policy... You will get better prices, and more reliable information about the diamond (the computer doesnt work on commision!).
