So I'm trying to find a place that sells blazer crests. I've found a few, but they all seem to be custom made. I was hoping to find ones that just had letters, so we could buy one for all the groomsmen with there first letter of their last name. So far, like I said, I've only found custom ones, and the cheapest Ive found is 35...

Does anyone know a place that sells them without going custom??

No idea, Niel, have you looked online? Small orders do cost more because the time needed to design them & set up the machines is the same as for a large one but can't be spread over many pieces. I used to work for a co. that did custom embroidery & that was always tough for people who wanted a few. Good luck!

I have looked online. The place I found has no min order number. They seem to make nice things, I just feel like there's got to be a company out there that has letters. You know? Just order the letters I need.

Do you know anyone with an embroidery/sewing machine? My family has a small business that does embroidery/quilting and you could do something simple like that on an at home embroidery machine. We just finished up doing the monogram for my cousin's wedding bags, but that was directly embroidered on to the bag. I'm not sure if the process to make that a patch would be much more expensive. We just got an order from a friend for patches today, so I will have to let you know what we come up with.

I suggest not. :D

I assume you want the groomsmen to wear a crest patch on their blazer in your upcoming wedding.

A blazer is traditionally considered sportswear, but I don't object to it for weddings, I think it looks great with gray or patterned pants.

A crest usually signifies membership in some kind or organization or club, usually sports club. Either connotation is not really, IMO, good for weddings. It would lower the look into something that boys lounge around in to wear around other men, or to sportswear. I also think of a slight fratty or exclusive vibe.

For menswear, less is more formal.

Ditto this. Unless this is the look you are going for it seems very prep school. Now you got me thinking of gossip girl. man i miss that show!

Well that's the look I want.

Niel,

Have you checked with any local stores that sell customized embroidered goods? You may be able to find someone locally who can make the patches for you.

I don't know what kind of store that would be. Any idea?

Thanks for the help

I'm usually great at finding things online and i'm having trouble here! Everywhere has a minimum order of like 100+....and like you the cheapest i've found is $35 http://www.logocrest.com/fashion.htm

and there isn't even anything on etsy! furthermore most of the sites are in the uk (not really surprising!)

That's the place I found too!

Niel,

Look in the yellow pages under "Embroidery." My city has quite a few places. Places that do custom monograms are what you are looking for. You should be able to choose the crest design and the lettering style. I don't know how much it might cost, but it's something you can look for.

Niel,

Almost every mall has an embroidery/stitching store. The one I can think of is called the Stitching Station. Maybe look there to see if they do crests?

Maybe a seeing supply store could help? I think the one we got our embroidery machine from lets you borrow machines if you take a class or personal lesson from them. They might at least know of a local shop.

We have a local, non-chain sporting goods store that also does screen printing and embroidery, maybe see if there are any T shirt stores or something like that? A place that would make jerseys for sports?

If you have an example or picture of what you want, etsy might be an option:

Now that computerized embroidery machines are readily available I think you'll find mom&pop embroidery operations in almost any town... you just have to find them! Most of them will have computerized embroidery set-ups that will either have a pre-programmed file for some sort of crest, or will be able to copy one from a scanned design. If all else fails check with professional tailors or custom dressmakers near you - they should be able to point you to someone who has the equipment.
