This is a follow-up to my thread about eternity or semi-eternity, seen here.

I am now debating between two sizes of bezel set eternity bands:

Smaller bezel-set band -- 27 1pt diamonds, .27 cttw, 1.5mm wide, 1.4mm thick.
Larger bezel-set band -- 20 3pt diamonds, .60cttw, 2mm wide, 2mm thick.

Here is the dilemma. I have a 1.18ct diamond set into the legato sleek line solitaire from Whiteflash, which is 2.3mm wide and 1.5mm thick. I think the larger bezel band will balance my diamond size best and I like that it is bigger. BUT the larger band will be thicker than my solitaire, which means it will stand out further from my finger than my solitaire does. This difference in heights may make me mental, since I hate when the profiles of my rings don''t match

The smaller bezel band will be a perfect match for my setting and will be perfect for future stacking, but I fear it is too small for my diamond size!

Vote away, and if you have any pictures of similar combinations of eternity bands and solitaires, please post them for me!

Visuals may help... Here is D&T's set which has a similar sized diamond with the smaller sized bezel band (.27cttw). Her setting is much thicker than mine.

This is tough...I''m a visual person and I need pictures!

My bezel band is 2mm and I wear it with my 2 ct diamond e-ring and I think the sizes "match" perfectly. I am voting for the smaller one. I think the band being thicker than the solitaire would bug me.

whoops....DD you read my mind!! I''m sticking with my vote! Also wanted to say that I''m very excited to see pics of all your new bling!!

Here is shimmer''s legato setting with a custom bezel band made with 2pt stones. Her diamond is a .80ct. The size od 2pt diamonds is about 1.7mm whereas 3pt diamonds are about 2mm, so the band I am considering would be slightly wider.

I also say the smaller. I like profiles to match too. One of the reasons I am wearing my baby ring as my w-band these days-it matches perfectly height wise!

And with D&T''s former rings I don''t think the stones are the problem-it''s just too thin with the thick setting.

I`m voting for the smaller band. The height difference would drive me nuts too. And if you find the eternity doesn''t provide enough ''bling'', you can always get another thin stacker down the road to wear with your set.

This is my thought too... I would get a 2mm channel set from SP I think. Tried this combo at Tiffany''s and I

it! In the meantime I guess I could stack it with a 2mm gold band... hmmmmmm

This is a tricky one. If you think the height difference will bother you more than the diamond size, go the smaller route (and vice versa). Not much help, am I?

I'll vote bigger bling, since it's just a half a millimeter's difference. Will you have an opportunity to try on bands of the same thickness to see if it really bothers you before ordering?

I''d go with the smaller band. the height difference would bother me.

I notice your band is not full eternity... does it spin? Are you happy with your choice? I am still not decided on my original question.

NF do you have a thread about your baby ring? And shouldn''t you have 2 baby rings?

I don''t think so... but I have a shared prong eternity band with 8pt stones that sits about 2.2mm off the finger and it is VERY annoyingly thicker than my solitaire. So I am fairly certain the height difference would bug me, although it is a less noticable difference in the case of the bezel band.

Then the smaller band, definitely.

While we're on this topic- I completely understand if you don't feel comfortable answering this, but if you're okay with it, would you hint as to how much more $ the 3 point band is than the 1 point band? I might want one for myself.
31.gif
You don't have to give the price, but perhaps the price difference?

I know that when I go try rings on, I can''t stand it when the thicknesses are different. That''s the whole reason I had my engagement ring shaved down a bit. I already had a thinner band to use as my wedding band and it drove me crazy that they wouldn''t have matched. So I voted smaller!

At BGD the difference was ~$400... I didn''t get the quote from WF for the larger carat weight, because their quotes for the smaller band were higher than BGD. But the price for the full eternity 1pt. band at WF was $100 more than the 3/4 band listed on their site.

As an aside, what is the protocal about sharing exact price quotes on PS? I am happy to do so, I know lots of times I have wondered and didn''t necessarily want to contact the vendor if it was going to be outside of my price range to begin with! But is it okay?? I can''t think why not unless a company is giving different quotes to different people, which would be a strange business practice!

Dreamer, i voted bigger, but i don''t particularly care at all about matching heights. I was just thinking of when you''d be wearing it alone, and i would want something a wee bit bigger than a 1 pointer. Also, i think the size matches better with a 1 ct ering, but that''s just me.

If you REALLY think the difference will drive you crazy, don''t do it. i''d hate to see you spend the money to go back and change it b/c it drove you batty
2.gif

I voted bigger carat weight in case you want to wear the bezel band by itself, so it''s a bit more substantial. Plus, it''s more bling!
3.gif

I voted for the smaller one, just because I KNOW the height difference would drive me up the wall!

I''ve shared prices in the past, prefacing them with, "Please keep in mind that quotes can change very quickly, based on metal prices etc."

DD- I think the smaller one would be best because I initially thought of changing my ering to the sleek line because the width is what I wanted. my keystone is pretty heavy imo for the 1ptr, and thought of going with the 3pointer instead so the width would balance out with my ering, and the thicknes would then be more in balance with my ering. I think your diamond will really pop with the 1 pointer, and the shimmer that the bezel gives is really stunning. so I''m going to say the 1pointer with your legato.. and you can always get another one to flank the other side. But if you had the keystone or a setting similar to mine then I would say 3 pointer.. hope that helps...

is there another choice out there somewhere with bigger stones, which it sounds like you want, but the same profile as your er? I like rings to match up, so it there isn''t I''d go with the smaller - that''s important to me.

DD is there a 2pt option?

Mowtown and D&T The only way to get 2 pointers or bigger stones with a lowe profile is either custom or Tiffany's... both not options for me right now financially! LOL!

Ya know, I''ve lost a bit of weight (lower than pre-preggo) so my fingers have gotten smaller and it spins some but it really doesn''t bother me. I was worried about resizing issues....you never know what your fingers will do when you have kids.

Okay, well this vote is very clear and confirms my feelings so I have made one decision at least -- I''m getting the smaller band

I think it will look killer with my new largr diamond and will make it look even bigger because it is so dainty!

I think matching sounds like the better option, based on what you said in the intro - if it will drive you nuts to not have them match, I don''t think you even want to go there...

LOL!! Too true... still, I am an indecisive woman and if everyone has resoundingly said "Go Big" I might have thought to myself... "Maybe I should go bigger and not worry about the height difference?"
