Ok, I have been searching and searching and have not been able to find anything close to what I am looking for. Hopefully some of you will be able to help. I have an asscher in a prong set cathedral solitaire and have been thinking about a reset, because I think the prongs really detract from the octagonal shape that I love so much. I was originally thinking about getting a bezel set halo with custom cut baguettes, but hubby is opposed to the idea of a halo. I have a bezel set eternity ring with alternating round and princess cuts (kite set) with milgrain edging, that I love. What I would like to do is set my asscher in a very thin bezel setting (like LTP's but thinner) with milgrain edging. But I cannot find any pictures of something like this without a halo, to get an idea of what it would look like.

Is this even possible? Does anyone have anything similar to this (even in a different shape stone?) I feel like what I am envisioning is unreasonable if nobody has ever done it before --

Thanks in advance! :D

The emerald ring is from Single Stone. The other is an estate piece, maybe from Lang? These were the only pictures of step cuts in milgrain bezels I had saved on my computer. They have side stones but this should give you a general idea.

That second one is PERFECT! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I showed it to hubby and he agrees! I will be taking this pic to my jeweler. Thanks again.

And thanks again for all of your replies. All of the rings you posted are beautiful!!! :appl:

Yeah, that sounds like a job for single stone.

enjoy the new reset!

I will be meeting with my jeweler on Friday and bringing these pictures. Thanks again everyone! Hopefully I can have this project finished by the New Year! :naughty:

And of course, there will tons of pics of the finished product!

I'm not trying to detour you using your jeweler, but keep in mind that those side stones are french cuts which are pretty hard to source. I've heard some horror stories from peoples jewelers who try to replicate certain rings (esp bezels) and they have to have a good bench jeweler to do so otherwise the bezels end up really big and bulky and not delicate like the photos they gave at all. Just wanted to give you a heads up so you know what to ask for when going into your jewelers, because if they use different cut side stones, like princess cuts, it's not going to have the same look at all.

The singlestone ring is BEAUTIFUL and I love milgrain and bezels! YUMMY! Can't wait to see the final product! :appl:

Thank you for your concern. ;)) I guess I should have clarified - I will not be adding any side stones. I will keep the ring as a solitaire. Basically all I am changing is the head from a prong set to a bezel.

Ok...dropped off my baby at the jeweler tonight. He said he'd have it ready for me by the New Year. I'm so excited! This jeweler has done a lot of work for me (he designed and created my eternity band) so I trust him. I will be sure to post pics when it is finished!!! :appl:
