Hey all,

I had custom diamond ring made for my fiancee. The band was custom designed and molded. The stone is a, gorgeous, Round Brilliant (1.22 carrot, F, VS2, ideal cut) in a Full Bezel Setting. Our appraiser expressed some concerns about keeping the stone clean. His thoughts were, the whole in the back is too small to get a brush in to scrub the stone. Should we be concerned about this? Our warranty has an inspection & cleaning every 6 months. Is there something we can do day-to-day to keep the stone shining in all it''s brilliance?

Also, my dear fiancee has expressed some concerns about the Bezel setting. I love the distinct look but she''s concerned the setting is not showing the diamond in it''s full glory. She thinks a prong setting would show the diamond off better while I think it''s a shame to cut up such a beautiful ring (we both agree it''s a beautiful ring). Any thoughts? I''ll try to get a picture posted. The jeweler loved the ring so much she had it professionally photographed.

thanks for any advice...

I was told by David Keeling to use an ultrasonic cleaner on my bezel set ER. I chose a bezel set mostly because of my busy lifestyle with small children, and I am not poetry in motion when I walk

I have tension set ER(original ER) and now a bezel set ER..in all honesty, I feel that my bezel set shows off my diamond in all it's glory, it sparkles like mad. I personally have no need to see anymore of the diamond, and I wanted it to be as secure as possible. Maybe some of the experts can chime in about light return(I hope that wording is correct?) Did you both pick the setting?

clueless, I would love to see a pic! Do a search on bezel setting light return in the search bar above. There is a thread discussing this in detail. short story is, the bezel does not affect the light return at all.

Nope, my fiancee had no idea I was having it made. I was going the surprise route. The jeweler (who is a friend of mine) and I designed the ring. Although, I did take my fiancee ring shopping and had her meet the jeweler (to give both of us an idea of what she liked).

Does the ultrasonic cleaner work well? Do you have any trouble keeping the ring clean?

I haven''t purchased an ultrasonic cleaner yet! I am in need of one though, so I have to do a bit of research first, and then see if any shops in Saskatoon sell them, because we will not have any in town.
