Bezel mount removal

Hi All!
I was given a ring from a relatiive and love the design but just want it to look less like an engagement ring and more like a right-hand ring.
What I am thinking about doing is removing the center bezel mount and dont want to necessarily replace it with another stone. Is this something that can be easily done by a jeweler without taking apart the rest of the ring?
