Best way to ship jewelry overseas?

Hi does anyone know what is the best way to ship a piece of jewelry overseas? It''s not too expensive, around USD1,000 or so. I would like to ship it to someone in Asia for Christmas. How about USPS or Fedex? I think there are some regulations about shipping jewelry. Thanks for your help.

USPS is the most cost effective (from pers experience)....you could send it registered mail USPS (since they only insure up to 500$US for most other methods):

*the usps restricted access is guaranteed in US, once overseas it succumbs to that countries practice for registered pieces (btw-an option is FedEx, yet FedEx will make you bleed for international shipping)
