Thanks to all of your posts & pics, I am now cut-conscious & have drooled over diamond jackets in order to compensate for the smaller diamond size I will have to buy.
To minimize airline, does anyone know what the perfect Round center stone sizes are for Adwar's 9 stone jackets made for:
A) two .50 ct. center stones - which have a 5.2MM interior opening, and more relevant to me (hopefully)...
B) two .75 ct center stones - which have a 5.8MM interior opening
Also, does anyone know how many millimeters prongs add to the length/width of a stone….if I wanted to back into the best stone size?
Alternatively, if anyone had an airline issue with their Adwar jackets, could you please share the L/W size of your stones?
Just to share, here is some technical info about adwar's scalloped diamond jackets:
E4496 made for two .50 ct center stones - 5.2MM interior opening - has 9 5pt stones/jacket (18-5pts or .90 ct for both)
E4497 made for two .75 ct center stones - 5.8MM interior opening - has 10 5pt stones/jacket (20-5pts or 1.00 ct for both)
E4582 made for two .75 ct center stones - 5.8MM interior opening - has 9 10pt stones/jacket (18-10pts or 1.80 ct for both)
I must say that I loved the 9 stone jacket look better, but unfortunately it seems that you need 10pt stones to surround 75 ct diamonds if you want to maintain the same proportionate look. I dare to even consider this bad boy option…I've already up'd my husband's allowance once…and at some point, a gal must get real. I toyed with scaling back to 50 ct studs which seem to have a 5.13-5.16mm length on excellent cut diamonds, but then think against it…...size matters, lol!
The dilemma I'm faced with is... that for excellent cut diamonds, I can only afford 70 ct GIA stones, which have a length range between 5.67-5.72MM at best, or, if I go with the Ideal AGS's, it seems I can only afford 62-64+ ct stones, which have a length range between 5.49-5.59MM. Either way, I may be a b-tweener, which means i might not be able to fill a 5.8MM center & would have air-line…which defeats the purpose of the beautiful jackets.
I'm hoping that you gals can look at your certs for your stones' MM size & share your thoughts of what worked size stone you felt filled your jackets without airline. (Please also include your carat size & cert agency). Thanks
