Best and Worst TV Shows

I was going through old threads, and found one about "what books do you dislike?" It was quite interesting... It made me wonder the same question only about TV... What television shows do you love and what tv shows do you hate?

Veronica Mars
Arrested Development
Psych
Lost
Dexter
First few seasons of 24

Hate:
One Tree Hill (admittedly I have only seen the last 2 seasons, so I have no hate for the beginning of the show)

Smallville I liked the first 2 seasons, then every episode turned into some person who has turned evil and has powers from Kryptonite

24 the last few season. I feel like it is SO dragged out. They repeated story lines, and by the last 5 hours of each season, they were throwing random, stupid stuff just to make it last 24 hours. However, I did continue to watch every.single.season, so it is my own fault

I am sure there are more, I just cannot think of them...

Ditto - that's the first show that came to my mind too! I just cannot fathom that it is the most watched show in the world right now - - ugh!

I forgot about Teen Mom! I love that show and Sixteen and Pregnant. I know some people think it encourages teen pregnancy but I think it discourages it. Heck, it makes me not want to have kids and I am not a teen.

I don't watch much else, but I'm sure there are a lot of other horrible shows out there that I'd hate. I'm not typically a fan of family sitcoms and I think they're pretty stupid when I catch bits of them.

Everyone tells me I'd love Modern Family but I don't want to increase my TV viewing at this time.

Easy! Jersey Shore is simultaneously the best and worst show of all time.


For whatever reason, I really don't like hour long dramas - doesn't really matter which one it is, I probably don't like it. DH has tried to get me to watch Lost or 24 or whatever and they just seem cheesy to me. So then I end up watching horrible reality shows because at least they're supposed to be cheesy

I love comedies like the Office, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Psych, Big Bang Theory, and some older ones that aren't on tv anymore (Seinfeld, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks). Dexter is probably the only hour long drama I love. I also love Masterpiece Classic on PBS - the most recent mini series they ran was fantastic! And then I love watching horrible reality tv on Mtv - I figure it balances out the PBS.

I dig the wedding dress shows, Four Weddings and My Fair Wedding. Old shows I like are Will and Grace, Frasier and La Femme Nikita. I have those all on dvd so we watch them a lot.

Shows I hate..not sure. I can only stand about 2 seconds of some of the reality shows.

YES! I actually listed Masterpiece as one of my favorites too. Loooove Downton - I bought it on dvd and am trying to get DH to watch with me.

A co-worker watched it too and every week we'd run up to each other and say "Did you watch Downton this weekend?!"

I love The Good Wife. Tuesday on CBS.

I'm completely smitten with Downton Abbey. Sunday on PBS.

Those are the only shows I tape if I need to be out somewhere.

My all-time favorite show is probably West Wing, although it's not on anymore. I love the writing and the characters. The ones I currently watch are:

Brothers and Sisters (even my husband likes it!)
Parenthood
Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice
Chase
A variety of shows on HGTV (lame, I know, but I love them because nothing bad ever happens in these shows. They're just fun.)


My picks for worst shows are probably South Park and Family Guy. I don't really like animated shows anyway, but I don't get the humor in those particular ones.

No current loves at the moment. My last LOVE, was Battlestar Galactica, although it was very VERY hard to get through that final season, which was grim enough at times to make one wish to open a vein. Still, some of the best acting I've seen in a long time. And the only show in ages that I've been semi-religious about watching weekly.

Currently we watch fairly regularly...

the UK version of Top Gear. The new American version sucks beyone sucking and needs to be tossed as quickly as possible.

Veronica Mars (did you know there was a season 4 trailer on YouTube?) Yes. i watched it. I keep hearing rumors of a VM movie, but I don't know if it will ever happen.

Arrested Development is supposed to have a movie also...

I love HGTV too. House Hunters, First Place, any about the houses and the interior, but I hate Curb Appeal and anything about lawns/gardens.
