Hi all---
A few years ago Mark at Engagement Rings Direct made me a beautiful ring. Recently I took my ring off to lotion my hands and discovered it was bent!!! I took it to a jeweler who said that it could be repaired, but I would constantly be losing the pave diamonds. So I called the insurance company and reported it. They requested that I get something in writing from the jeweler, not a problem, other than the fact that I will not be leaving my ring with ANY jeweler that long, so I talked to Mark and shipped it to him.
He said that the setting definitely needs to be replaced because it has a CRACK! I have no idea how I could've cracked and bent the setting without noticing, does anyone have a clue?
Furthermore, I feel like I am about to have an uphill battle with Travelers because only the setting is damaged, but the appraisal covered the ring as a whole not just the center stone or setting. They want to "salvage" parts of the old ring. Does anyone know how they go about this or estimating the value of the setting. Honestly this is much too confusing and difficult to navigate, especially around the holidays. ANDDDDDDDDDD no one cares about the fact that I don't care about the money, I just want what's fair and it was up to me I would've gotten the ring fixed that was given to me by the love of my life. Glad we have insurance, but gosh claims seem to be a pain!
