Hi everyone,
So I've been searching for a certain type of band for quite some time. Both ben bridge and shane co. have items similar to my specifications. I'm looking for a diamond band, channel set, milgrain, 2mm width, same profile height all around, rose gold, and in a size 4.
Shane co. has a band that matches exactly what I'm looking for and is at a price point of $550. They state a lifetime warranty with ability to upgrade; they also state that the upgraded item does not need to be double to cost of the initial item like a lot of other jewelers do. However, my issues with them: 1) they are located in only a few states... and I'm afraid if I move I won't be able to meet their 6 month service requirement, and 2) they've filed for bankruptcy in 2009, and although they are still open I'm thinking what if they close in the future. I won't be able to service or get an upgrade if I choose.
On the other hand, Ben bridge has a ring that meets about 90% of my specifications-- the catch is it's not milgrain and it's at a higher cost than the shane co. ring. The cost would be $720 however I have a pair of earrings that I'm contemplating trading in which would bring the price down to $420. I like that ben bridge has locations all over the U.S. and so moving and keeping up with the servicing required for the warranty would not be a problem. Also, as far as I know ben bridge is a pretty large and stable company. My concern with them is that the price is significantly higher; even though I am willing to do the trade-in which brings it down they're basically asking for $170 more.
Any opinions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
