BB Emerald Cut Amethyst

So, I was trying not to buy gemstones for a while (and I did make it quite a few months), but... last month I caved and bought a emerald cut amethyst from Barry. I'm in love with it, Barry's cutting is fabulous as usual!

I sent it off to DanielM last week to be set in a simple double prong solitaire Argentium ring. He's super busy but hopefully he will be able to start my ring soon. My stack ring project with JKT has been taking a little longer than expected and I've been craving some new jewelry to wear!

According to Barry this material is from Artigas, Uruguay.

While I'm waiting for these projects to be done I thought I'd share some pictures of my amethyst.

Originally I had planned to set these stones together but when I got the amethyst I realized the proportions were way off. I still need to figure out what to do with these tourmalines...

Earrings? I haven't really seen sugarloaf earrings, but I bet they'd make pretty cool conversation pieces.

The amethyst is really nice. Your pictures really bring out the awesome depth of color!

Thank you, Jstar! I never thought about earrings… I had the worst problems with my ears when they were pierced so I finally let my holes close up a few years ago. They might make cute clip earrings if I could find the right person to make them. Thanks for the suggestion, I’m going to think about it.
