I had no idea, Grant's partner gave birth to their first child the day after he was shot. What a tragically sad event.

I''m glad to see some progress was made, though truly saddened that we [well me at least] will [again] be left wondering whether this issue would have been dealt with appropriately, as seems to be happening now, if the incident had not been caught by a recording and public outcry/publicity had not been so high.

I am in no way justifying destroying property [although I think peaceful public protest, which also occurred, is very effective], but I would hazard a guess that the massive publicity it brought about played a role in furthering the pursuit of justice in this case. I hope this doesn''t end up like so many others in which justice is never actually served. People like this officer and others like him feed into a perception that all officers are violent thugs on a power-trip, which does a disservice to responsible and respectable law enforcement officers.

I''ll believe it when I see it as well. I pretend to be hopeful but inside I''m actually a realist and a cynic.

how this guy managed to be on the street for so long is beyond me! had i shot someone even in self-defense, they''d have had my a$$ being interviewed immediately.
