Anyone planning on ballet flats? FI is just 4" taller than I, and I like the way I look next to him in flats rather than heels. PLUS, much of our ceremony is outdoors (shale tiles scattered on grass) and the reception is on a wood-plank patio (read: lots of opportunity for heels to get stuck between boards).

So, I'm thinking either flats or very low kitten heels for me. My dress will be ivory lace with a burnt orange sash, so I'm sort of hoping to match my shoes to the sash (I imagine this will end up meaning dyeables). I love the attached pair from London Sole, but they're a bit too informal.

Any fabulous finds you'd like to share?

I''m going to wear ballet flats for sure when I get married. I was going to recommend London Sole when I saw the title of this thread, but you already know about them! They do have slightly more formal ones, and if I recall correctly, you''re in LA, so you can go to their store! I think it''s on Montana? It says it on the website.

I also like French Sole-they''re pretty similar to London Sole. But I have an AMAZING pair of silver glitter ballet flats from French Sole that I love. Those would be fun wedding shoes, I think.

Also check out Repetto-I have several pairs of Repetto ballet flats and I love them! If you are in LA and I''m not making that up, Bird on Melrose Place carries them. You can also find them online pretty easily.

Delman and Sigerson Morrison also have great ballet flats, but they''re pretty pricey, so maybe not the best bet unless you plan on wearing them after the wedding.

I think the ones pictures are very cute. Would love to see them with your dress.

Wow, thank you for all the suggestions, thing2!! I have lots of places to explore now

(and you''re not making it up--I am in LA

Moonwater, I love them too. I wish they came in a color combo that worked with my dress, but none would work with the orange sash. They have glittery gold ones, but I don''t know if I wanna go there!

Are these close enough to your burnt orange sash? They''re great! (Repetto BB)

Oooh those sparkly orange ones are amazing!! Where did they come from??

Misysu, I ran across those when I was looking, too. Definitely too bright! I don't think I could stomach glitter, either... I'm going for a very elegant look.

I really think I'll need to find some satin dyeables... hmmm....

Here is the color of my sash for reference (NOT the dress I'll be wearing, just the same color, width and placement of the sash).

i love the idea of ballet flats, im on the search for white or ivory ballet slippers with a suede bottom to be exact hahaha

i think your feet will thank you at the end of the day!! its a long day and ur going to be standing most of it go for the comfort!!! love the sash color of ur dress!!

I wore ballet flats...I had to, otherwise my dress would be too short! I hate flats, so I just spent $12 and bought a pair at Target, lol. It was nice though, because FI was *just* taller than me, normally he''s at least an inch shorter, even when I wear tennis shoes.

I love the rust/burnt orange sash! I wanted one too since I plan to get married in October. I was hoping to find some orange heels. I'll see if I can find flats for you while surfing the net at work...I mean working hard at work...ahem.

ETA: Okay I think its hard to tell the true color of these shoes because they are online. Like this says deep orange and it looks...pale: Deep Orange Flat

Thank you, MW! I'm starting to wonder if ballet flats, as a genre of shoe, will be too informal

I would LOVE to find something like this in orange/dyeable, in a low heel or flat. I'm thinking maybe I should first concentrate on the design, THEN the color. I wonder if I could do pale blue, then they could be my "something blue"... but I don't know if I'll want so many colors playing around on my bride-self

Anyway, pic of the yummy shoes:

Hi Musey,

I was also debating whether to get flats. I decided they would affect how "princess-y" I felt in my dress, so I decided to get heels instead. There are a lot of comfortable, nice-looking wedges out there. Also, there are a lot of low, 1 1/2-2 inch heels that shouldn''t be too bad. These would also be easy to switch out with another comfortable pair at the reception in case they are hurting your feet.

IMO it's hard to find dressy flats that don't look like they were meant for your grandmother to wear. Even low heels are sometimes hard to find. Here's a cute pair of Isaac Mizrahi's. I don't think they channel the same look as the heels you posted though.

ETA: This site has some cute shoes w/lower heels. Not sure if they'd be dyeable though. Cute Shoes. Also here's a site that has lots of dyeable shoes. Here's a link to one in particular that has the pleated details like the one you posted but with a kitten heel. Dyeable Shoes

Jackpot!!!

And just in case these aren''t just the right color (they seem a little bright), they come in ivory satin as well, so I am pretty sure they would be dyable!
Fata, SWEET find! I bet I could dye the ivory pair and do a little gluing/sewing to dress them up some more.

Sap, I think you''re right about that! So many of them do look grandma-ish. THANK you for those links, what good finds!! There are a lot of shoes on that site that would be great after dyeing. Thanks again!

Every time I start thinking about something attire-related for the wedding, I feel so glad that I''ve got almost a year ''til I have to decide. I''m afraid of putting it off for too long, though!

Or if I go the heel route, these in a burnt orange dye would be fabulous (minus the ribbon):

Ooooo...where did you find the "yummy shoes"?

Me too, obviously

My bedroom in college was completely draped in burnt orange satin. It was my little orange den! I think it's coming back "in" lately, with all that I've seen in stores. Though I have to admit, I don't tend to like it in any other fabric than satin!

I've been thinking about it more, and I think the height difference thing is my main motivator, rather than problems with heels. I'm required to wear ALL kinds of different shoes for work, and do ridiculous things in them (*ahem* yesterday consisted mostly of running on sand wearing strappy stilettos. Because, you know, people DO that. Ever.

) so I think I'll be okay maneuvering in heels all day, I just want my new hubby to have as much height over me as possible
