Who loves baking soda? I do! I do!

We''re having about 6000 houseguests this week so I''ve been doing some serious cleaning. And I just have to say, baking soda is the single best substance on earth. It cleans anything. It makes your bath soft. You can make volcanoes out of it! AND it keeps your freezer smelling nice. And let''s not forget that you can make chocolate chip cookies with it. And....

How is it possible that this multi-tasking super stuff is so freaking awesome and costs only 69 cents a box?

OK, I know, it''s weird to love baking soda. But I just do OK.

I use BS (ha ha) oh boy I am cracking myself up. Anyhoo I use BS as a facial cleaner. I use it on my hair to remove the ickys. I just bought 15 lbs today for my swimming pool. Oh, I use it to exfoliate my tootsies. I have the best red velvet cake that ultilized bs and makes the red redder. It makes a wonderful toothpaste. When your tummy is a growling from being upset...it will calm the storm. And any kitchen flareups can be squelched with some BS.

When my husband thinks I have spent too much on something...I give him some BS. Oh, no wait, that isn''t the same thing is it?

I will be a member of your little club...with joy!

I use BS for everything too, I Love it! last thing I used it for (Besides my regular cleaning) was to get Vaseline out of my daughters hair. She smeared an entire tub on her head. I combed it through her hair with a fine tooth comb then washed it. BS washed it right out. It''s also really good as a rinse for getting residue from styling products, conditioner/shampoo etc. out your hair & also green from pool water.

Hey Indy...when you say you use it to clean everything...can you tell us how you do it...I mean do you dilute it in a bucket of water or use it as in a paste. Can you do windows with it? Do all surfaces need rinsing once you use it? Frankly, I have only cleaned a coffee pot and a stainless sink...and a spot on formica. Arghh, can''t believe I am asking...will you Spell the cleaning beans.

Hubby would love to know I was asking a clean freak her secrets. He wants a refund in that department. I hope to clean better when I grow up.

Huh, the only thing I''ve ever used it for is putting the boxes in the fridge and freezer to minimize smells. I use a third cup white vinegar and two thirds cup of water in the microwave for minutes in a Pyrex measuring cup to clean the microwave...I use Clorox wipes to clean every other surface and aerosol glass cleaner (from DH''s customer) to clean all the other stuff...I''ll have to check out the websites posted and see what else I can use baking soda for!! Thx!

i use it to clean my diamond

...super sparkly....its the best stuff...cooking cleaning and odor control.

This whole thread has me cracking up. I am reminded of the commercial where the tagline is "Hooray, beer!"

Hooray, Baking Soda!

I put some in those single socks whose mates have disappeared and put them into my sneaks after working out. No more stinky shoes!

It also cleans my yukky kitchen sink, whose protective covering somehow went missing. DKS, I just sprinkle it and then add enough water to make a paste.

I do exactly what Jas does for the kitchen sink: sprinkle it in, just enough H2O for paste (mmmm... paste!) then scrubscrub scrub. Works like nothing else. I also use it to clean my garbage disposal. Gets rid of smells from there too. It''s also great for carpets. Soaking up stains.

Makes a good toothpaste in a pinch.

But let''s face it, nothing beats its fake-a-volcano abilities. Hours of childhood fun! (Or overgrown child fun!)

So true. Baking Soda blurbing out of a mass o'' paper mache is a treat! Whee!

seriously, something died in my car and I can''t find it...I have two boxes in there as we speak...and I LOVE it with Cetaphil as a face scrub...SOOOO soft! :)

now you got my attention. do tell. does it exfoliate? or does it do more?

I realize your question was to MoreMoreMore...Jcrow...

But BS does exfoliate. I use it often. Just as the others mentioned a paste is what you want to make. I usually place about a tablespoon in the palm of my hand, and add water and then rub on to face. It will exfoliate and then it leaves your skin a softer feeling than any other product.

As I mentioned in my first post...I also use it for pedicure treatment. Soak in a bath of diluted bs, and then use the paste as an exfoliate for my tootsies. Also will use on hands. If I know I am going to be shaking alot of hands...I make sure I use it the night before. It really softens your skin.

I think MMM adds her cetaphil cleanser and may do so for the moisture to make the paste.

Oh, funny story I was once using the BS on my face and for some reason I was leaned over the palm full of BS before the water was added, and I breathed in and snorted the BS!! I sprang up and stared into the mirror and watched my life flash in front of me. I thought, this is what those druggies must feel like snorting that other white stuff. It sort of burned and it took me awhile to realize I was going to be alright. What a knucklehead! So yes, I have snorted white stuff!! From the Arm and hammer cartel of Miami

Oh it will make your hair soooooo soft. Apply to wet hair in shower and massage in...then rinse. Feels like silk. Oh makes dry hair feel good again.
