I purchased a diamond online and a setting locally for my FF''s engagement ring. I then had the diamond set at the local jeweler. Here is the link to my SMTR thread: Link

Now I think the ring is gorgeous, except...

I was looking at the ring under a loupe today. I noticed something that bothered me on the prongs. Now I''ll try to explain this the best I can. I would try to take pictures, but I know it wouldn''t show up.

Where the notch has been cut out for the diamond in the prongs, it looks rough. When you look through the loupe, you can clearly see a rough edge right next to where the diamond is set. I can now see it with my naked eye, because I know it is there.

Is this normal? Is this shoddy workmanship?

Please advize.

I think that should be an easy fix by the jeweler, just bring up your concern to him.

A jeweller can probably smooth this down fairly easily.

So this makes sense, then? It''s almost like burrs left over from the cutting.

This isn''t normal? I''m not being to picky?

I don''t want to be one of "those" guys when I go back to see the jeweler.
