Hi all! I have been out on the coast of Oregon for the past week. It was AWESOME!!! My parents have a vacation home right on the coast in Depoe Bay. (It''s 10 miles north of Newport)DH and I had never been out there, so we did a lot of exploring and hiking. For anyone who has never been to the Pacific Northwest of the USA, you should definitely check it out!

Here are a bunch of pictures of our adventure

This one is a tide pool that connects little whale cove and big whale cove.

This is the Cape Foulweather lighthouse. This cape was named so by Captain James Cook in 1778 because of the tumultuous weather and sea around this area.

This is one of the views from the Oregon State Trail at Cape Perpetua. It''s a spouting horn, which is where the wave crash into crevasses in the rock, spouting up through small openings at the top making a natural fountain.

Cape Perpetua tide pools. Very cool, there are a lot of tide pools in this area to crawl around on.

The bridge across Drift Creek Falls. We hiked through the woods and came out at this huge, TALL suspension bridge. Cool!

Little Whale Cove. There is a little path right at the back of my parents'' house that will take you down to this cove.

Sunset over Little Whale Cove. The path that takes you to the cove splits and will take you up to the top of the cliffs to the whale watch. Too bad we didn''t see any whales this time.

Don''t remember where we took this, but it was a misty day and it looked neat.

Moolak beach. This is a huge beach! It was fun to walk and pick up sea glass.

Another Moolak beach.

The Sea Lions in Newport Harbor. They have claimed this dock as their own. They are HUGE and very loud. It was fun to stand up there and watch them do sea lion things. They would lay around and sleep, but if another sea lion tried to get up on the dock, they would bark and fight with them over space.... Silly sea lions.

More Sea Lions.

Last one with the Sea Lions. I don't know why they put this cage here... They don't lock the animals in it or anything. The Sea Lions love to hang out in here.

On our hikes there were these cool old growth trees. They were covered in droopy moss. It really made you feel like you were in some ancient forest, where a dinosaur could pop out at any time!

Everyday DH and I would walk around the tide pools at Big Whale Cove. We saw a lot of anemones and starfish, just like this one!

This is Yaquina head. It''s a huge nature preserve with hiking trails, tide pools, etc... Really great for learning about Oregon nature!
