So, while I was out running errands I stopped by a local B and M to inquire about the prices of cutting down DH's ring and adding sizing beads to mine.

Gripe #1: I told him that we had recently lost a lot of weight and that my ring fell off the other day. Then he told me that I should come back when I had finished losing weight! I didn't say anything about not being done with my weight loss!

Gripe #2: One of the rings that I need to size is my JM 1345 engagement ring. I would never allow anyone besides JM resize a ring like that. The jeweler asked me why I wouldn't just size it as opposed to adding sizing beads. I explained that I didn't want to have to send the ring across the country to have the original artist size the ring if I liked the idea of sizing beads. He asked why I would want to send it back to JM and I replied that I didn't want to mess with the slight hammered finish of the ring or damage the structural integrity. He looked at the ring and told me that there was no special texture on the metal.

What really makes me mad is that he talked to me like I was some obsessive compulsive idiot! ARGHHH!

Congratulations on your weight loss! That's awesome! I would really consider taking my business elsewhere, but really in the case of your JM (what's a JM?) I would send it back to whoever JM is to do whatever work. I know Jonathan and Marie probably think I am some kind of weirdo, but I sent my ring back to them for a resize downwards when I lost some weight. I just felt more comfortable having my stone and ring in their hands since they did it in the first place. But the shipping was nerve-wracking so that was not something I'd really be happy to do any other time.

I don't really understand why anyone in the service profession--retail or otherwise--would want to be so rude to a potential customer. Don't they understand that if they are rude to you you won't spend money there?

I guess he doesn't need any money.I don't know how they stay afloat anyway they close at 5 pm and aren't open Sundays.

JM is James Meyer. I want to avoid having to send it back to him at all costs. Having my ring gone made me insane last time. That is why I want to try some other, less permanent, options first.

How remarkably ... unprofessional. Actually, scratch that: how damned unvarnished rude!

I definitely wouldn't give them my business. The fact that they can't see the finish would mark them as being unprofessional, even if the attitude hadn't. Perhaps the dealer from whom you purchased your husband's ring might be able to do the resizing and the beads? Alternately, I'd just send both to JM, if possible ....

We are driving down to talk to our jeweler later this week. He made DH's ring and my original e-ring. He does fantastic work and I am sure that he can do them for me.
