Hi all,

I''ve been eyeing the Tiffany By the Yard necklace with the aquamarine in the middle but it''s a bit pricey at $1100, so I''m thinking of having my own made. There is a similar style with a diamonds on either side, like the one in the photo here and I DO have two .25ish diamonds that are my original set of diamond studs and I''m thinking they would be great to add into the necklace. The diamonds are good to very good cut. I can see a visual difference between them and my ACAs but they still sparkle nicely and look MUCH better than the general mall diamond. I''ve read that bezels do not affect ideal-cut stones, so should I be okay with these good cut ones?

Thanks!

MC,
I''m thinking that bezeling might affect the light performance of not so well cut stones. In average cut diamonds, they''ll need more light coming in from the side as they tend to leak more light from the top. Am I making sense?

Yep, you are. I''m wondering if it''d be worth having them set in. . .I do not think I''ll wear them as earrings again. My other option would be to sell them on eBay, but I doubt I''ll get very much. They were suppose to be F VS2, but I think they are more like G/H SIs.

Here''s a fun trick:
How about covering the sides of the stone with a dark piece of paper to simulate a bezel setting?

Those necklaces spend as much time upside down as the right way up, so not so well cut stones work perfectly well
