I spend around $25. I asked my mom about this the other day, and she had just talked about it with her friends (they had a shower to go to), and they all said they spent $25 to 30. I imagine it could be a little more for close relatives or best friends.
If I wasn''t attending I''d either spend the same. I might try to go in with someone else to get a nicer gift.
Hmmm I typically spend around $30-50 depending on the person for bridal shower. I''d probably spend the same if I was going or not. Sometimes I also just want to get ONE specific thing off the registry so I''ll spend more if I have to.
I''ve always wondered about this too. Now I know I''m a bit on the generous side (I''m usually $50-$75)...I''ll have no guilt the next time I come up a present that''s a little less!
Interesting thread! I was just looking thru a collegue''s wedding registry so I can get her something I want to get her before it''s too "picked thru". lol. (her wedding is the end of July) Anyway, I was looking in the $60-$80 range and that would be for the actual wedding day gift. I don''t believe I''ve been invited to the shower unless the shower just hasn''t happend yet but if I am I think I would be conflicted about what to spend for both.
On one hand, one is obligated to bring some kind of gift to a shower.....and I''d want it to be a nice one. But on the other, the actual wedding day gift seems more special to me so I''d want to spend a bit more. I''ve never been invited to a bridal shower before so I just don''t know how this should all work out.
It makes me think a lot about my own shower and wedding and what my guests might be going thru!!! lol
