Aussie jewellers for milgrain bezel stud settings?

I've recently bought 0.95ctw oec diamond for studs. I want to set them cheaply in milgrain bezel studs, preferably with a custom thickness post. I bought them from usa ebay and am still recovering from the shock of customs so I'm hoping to set them within Aus to make it easier. Any suggestions for decent aussie jewellers for this? I'm near brisbane and frequently travel to sydney, but could probably send them anywhere in Aus. Any discussion on favourite Aussie jewellers is welcome!

I've given you the details of my jeweller before - let me know if you need them again!

Unfortunately he's not cheap... But he is good. Worth a phone call to get an idea on quotes. I am still in love with my haloed 1.4tcw studs that have beautiful millgrain. I can dig out a photo if you want.

But yeah, I don't know anyone cheap and good...what a find that would be!!

hi misskittycat! thanks i do have him mentally filed away for future bigger projects but want to go cheap and cheerful on these. but theres no such thing as too many pictures on pricescope so if you have a pic handy i'd love to see them

That is a catch 22 because I assume you wanted to view the stones first before you set them but it is much cheaper to get them set in the US than here.

For O.K basic work and reasonable prices phone Rivers (Trevor will do the work he is one of two owners and is the main bench person there) he does work for the chain stores in Brisbane - explain what you want done and ask for a quote;

Ringleaders does nice work but I have no idea how much something like that would be again I'd explain what you want and ask for a quote;

I had my VC made ring set with Lola by Steven Dibb's bench, you need to phone and/or go to the Cleveland store because their bench people and the setting guy there is much better than at their Holland Park store. They are not cheap but are fairly priced, again I would ask for a quote;

Other than that I wonder if asking somewhere like Diamonds International or some of the other larger jewellers if they could do it for you.

Here you go!! This picture is with my drop South Seas attached. The two centre diamonds are 5mm each (1 carat in total).

I'm really happy with them, but they were not cheap. Having said that, most of the work is not in the bezel, it's in the halo, so you never know. He might surprise!

If it were me I might just send them back to Erica to get her to do them though... Her ones were beautiful....

I am just wondering if it would still be easier to send them back to the US and have them set there?

If you sent them back with help from your chosen vendor, on return the invoice, it would be for the setting alone. You shouldn't have to pay tax on the diamonds re entering Australia.

I sent my 1.7 RB to Victor Canera and only paid GST on return on the cost of my setting. I did discuss this with Victor and he was great about it.

I am sure any of the vendors known for their bezel settngs could do this for you. I am thinking, Grace from Jewels by Grace, Erica from LoveAffair diamonds, ID Jewelry, Brian Gavin Diamonds etc.

I would think the same thing susimoo. But the shipping each way is quite pricey... But if it were me I would seriously talk to Erica or Grace about it.

Susimoo sorry to thread jack but wondering which shipping company you used to post your stone to USA? And did you use insurance?

I'm pretty sure Victor would have organised shipping for her. Unfortunately as individuals we have no option available to is other than Malca Amit or Australian Post (only if the item is lower value - under $5,000 with additional insurances purchased).
