I am looking at two diamonds and angles are not that far off, but not sure if I should value color over clarity. Im looking at the following two stones, and would love any perspective. Im trying to identify the best all around value, and price is not really an issue when considering between the two stones, which I have provided links to below.

Well, that first stone is a little too deep, which makes it not face up as large in diameter as it might if it were not as deep. You can see that the H is over 7.8mm while the F is 7.69x7.74.

These are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA excellent cut stone.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0 (up to 35.5 crown angle can sometimes work with a 40.6 pav angle)

pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0 if the crown angle is close to 34)

I have never heard of that second vendor, so I would have some hesitation about that, but the stone numbers do fall into the right parameters.

I'd suggest looking at stones with VS1-VS2 clarity to broaden your options and possibly increase size. A VS1 stone is very clean and you would have difficulty locating the inclusions with a 10x loupe.

I've looked around, and I can't find a better deal than the 1.78 H IF for that quality level of stone. I haven't heard of that company, but their reviews seem to be good.

Quoting @LLJsmom "I wandered in there once. I usually go to Derco on opposite side of the hall. I usually gauge a vendor by how they respond to me bringing up a discussion about cut and ASET images. He did not seem receptive so I don't wandered back out. Derco across the way is also very traditional but if you show them you know what you're talking about, (and bring you ASET) and talk HCA scores and leakage and stuff, they know you are a more educated diamond buyer and will bring you and pull stones that are up to YOUR specific requirements. I once had them search for a 30 point stone that met the PS parameters and they got it for me. I would try them."

This is the only recent PS member I can find commenting on them.

I know that for another poster, PS members were not impressed with their settings at all. They looked very flimsy. So, if you get a diamond from them as it meets your needs, I would not buy a setting from them.

What kind of setting do you want?

What are you looking for in terms of color and clarity and budget? If you drop to H color and eyeclean VS2 or SI1, you can do better on price or size.

I am looking for the best/most brilliant diamond I can find with a budget of $17.5k and at least 1.75ct weight, with minimum color and clarity of H/VS2 respectively. Any thoughts on options? I love the diamond you sent a link for, but I am targeting that 1.75ct weight+ sweet spot.

$17.5 including the setting or just the stone? If including the setting, can you post a pic of the style?

Sorry thats my budget just for the stone itself.

There is very little with a VS rating in your budget/size, how about some eye-clean SI options?

Posting so you can put these on hold if you like, will keep looking. Diamonds move fast before V-day...
