This is a continuance/sidebar of another thread:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/why-are-these-priced-different.112572/

I was all over the board on the other thread, so I wanted to consolidate and be more concise.

I am looking to purchase an Asscher diamond 1.75 or more for under 8-11k with platinum pave setting (about 1200).
I have had whiteflash send me pics of one ring which didn''t look that great. They are being helpful as they are sending two more pics over today/tonight at a discount to try and help me out.

I am getting sort of anxious as I would like to purchase ASAP. Here are some on JA that I might be interested in... any thoughts:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Asscher-Diamond-1186446.asp

Any advice on these 3, or any other advice would be appreciated... Thanks!

No girdles with extremely thick or extremely thin. Too much carat weight is eaten up in an extremely thick girdle.

I just got pics of a couple rings that I will post in a few mins...

Am I looking for the impossible all below for ~9500k?

1.75>
I
vs2
very good/premium cut
very good polish/symmetry
table < 65
depth < 70
nice cut with staight lines, good windmills, hall of mirror effect, and not too much light leakage
I''m okay with the girdle being a little thicker on a heavier stone, as long as it still has the spread of a 1.75.

If I''m not looking for the impossible, am I just looking in the wrong places?

Thanks!

tough to call.
The green center in the ASET means the center might not be very bright.
If its an issue can only found out by actually looking at them.
#1 has a better chance of being good than #2

strmr,

Thanks for your input. Can I ask your opinion on this. do you think i''ll be able to find a ''kicken'' asscher with the specs i have above for under ~9500? or am I going to have to sacrifice something to get that. If I have to sacrifice, do you think diamond #1 is good stone ''for the price''?

Thanks!

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Asscher-Diamond-1191753.asp 666.. no way for me.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Asscher-Diamond-1186446.asp
lots of weight in the girdle

Any advice on these 3, or any other advice would be appreciated... Thanks!
Also, the one you say ''666... no way for me''. Is that just because the number? or is there something wrong with the stone?

sure I see 3 I would have called in...
just by weird chance they happen to be ags graded and are likely from the same cutter. gog would call in 2 of them for free. I would go with the last 2 to have called in first.

Thanks,

The 1.9 one is actually ring #2 above. I will work with WF to look at the other two as well.

Can I get opinions on the following ring please:
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Asscher-Diamond-1216433.asp

I know it''s 6.66 again, but i think i can look past that..

4 is the better of the last 2.

You just arent having very good luck with this hunt.

At this point I would have a chat on the phone with someone looking over those at WF and see if one of them is ok as far a center brightness.
Green centers can go both ways.

What do you think between #1 and #4?

#1 - $9500
I - VS2
1.9 ct
6.8 x 6.71
63 table
69 depth
3.8 % - 4.4 % girdle

#4 - $8900
H - VS1
1.8 ct
6.64 x 6.64
64.5 table
68.7 depth
3.2 - 4.3 % girdle

I''m going to talk to the jeweler about the centers

Also, I''m waiting to hear back from James Allen on the other two.. But it seems to take them forever to get an ideal scope done... and I really would like to make a purchase by tomorrow.

I think 4 might have a better chance of a brighter center.
Ask them to compare them while chatting on the phone with you.
