Hello all, what is the range/ideal Pavilion Depth and Angle % for an Asscher? I have a few Sarin reports and dont know what Im looking for there...

Also, I have read med all the way to very thick girdle is ok for and Asscher? Carat size around 1.5.

Thanks!!!

There really isn''t an established set of ideal proportions for Asscher cut diamonds at this point, however there are general ranges of total depth and table diameter measurements that will get you off to a good start in terms of narrowing down the options. There are quite a few diamond manufacturers who list their square emerald cut diamonds production as "Asscher" in the multiple listing services we use as a trade to search for diamonds held by the cutters we work with and in my experience only a few of them actually produce a diamond that exhibits a crisp pattern of concentric squares visible within the table facet to the extent that an experienced diamond buyer would consider it to be an actual Asscher and not just a square emerald cut diamond. Thus I''ve found it easier to work with a select group of suppliers who tend to produce diamonds that meet my expectations for what an Asscher cut diamond is supposed to be and I''m sure that other dealers who are familiar with Asscher cut diamonds do the same... As it so happens, I ran a search for Asscher cut diamonds this morning for a client and I''ve edited the results of the search so as not to state prices here on the forum, but I feel that the graphic will provide some insight into the parameters likely to produce better visual performance - note that the girdle thickness here does not extend beyond Slightly Thick (STK) but Thick would be acceptable, we avoid extremely thin and very thick in our selection process and prefer a culet of None or Very Small with a Length to Width Ratio of 1.00 - 1.01:1.00 but in the end I will say that it is very difficult to buy an Asscher cut diamond "off paper" and for that reason I suggest working with one of the dealers here on PS who is willing to bring the diamond in for physical evaluation and provide an insightful critique of the diamond to avoid disappointment and unnecessary shipping expense.

one that matches the crown to get a proper face up appearance.
There is no set number.
The only numbers I use off a sarin report are crown height and LxW and Table under 64 maybe 65
The rest are pretty useless.
Pictures rule and numbers drool

girdle med, sl-thick, thick.. on occasion v-thick if the spread isn't impacted to badly.

ditto to what Todd said about dealing with a vendor with a relationship with a supplier for them.
lxw for the right stone I will go out to 1.04:1

Thanks guys, that helps a ton!!!!!

ditto pp''s. I like a L to W ratio of 1.01 - 1.02 best but like Karl said, you can find some great 1.03''s and 1.04''s. Give jonathan at GOG a call. He was looking for me for awhile and is super nice and knows his stuff! Goodoldgold.com

good luck! asschers are magical!!!
