i''ve been told by the diamond retailers around here that asscher cut diamonds should not be smaller than .7 carats.
we want a sort of smallish diamond but not if it''s going to look like glass.
can anyone help with this advice?
greatly immensely appreciated...
thanks

True Asscher cuts look rather smallish because they are quite deep. I suppose that below .70ct, an Asscher cut will not have a great deal of special merit. The ones I have seen that appealed the most to me were well over 3.00ct sizes. You can get small emerald cuts in almost any size and they will essentially look the same in the 5mm and down range.

It would be easier to sort through a few examples. In the meantime, you may wnat to take a look at THIS and THIS...

It is not possible to show a 5mm diamond acurately in a picture. But these two should be as far from "glassy" as I can think of. I can definitely simpathise with your hunt for something small and special

Hope this helps a bit. Can you post some options ?

(cannot make links to examples, so here are two pics and stock #s of what I was trying to show down the second link).

You can get any size Asscher Cut as long as you make sure its a real Asscher Cut, I mean build up crowns depth up to 69,9%, small table 55%-62% appr., and MAKE sure the corner breaks are large enough (see the corners on the picture above, that's the way they should be.)
