I’m a little confused, what HCA score should we look for in a diamond 2.5ct or bigger?

On a ring, under 2 and above 1.
I have a 2.14 carat diamond, so a touch under what you’re seeking. It scored a 1.4- is has nice sparkle and faces up quite bright.

So 1.1 should be ok?

We need the proportions but I can tell you if you look at that diamond from less than 1 foot / 30cm it will appear to be a bit dark because you are where the lights will be coming from. shallow girl gif.gif

Here are the specs:
Weight: 2.5ct
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Measurements: 8.80x8.84x5.30mm
Table: 59%
Crown Height: 32.8
Pavilion Depth: 41
Total Depth: 60.1%

This stone is for a second ring so I don’t want to go super ideal, just a great performing stone.

Does the score of between 1 to 2 still appy if we are looking at diamonds (of less than 1 carat) for rings?

It should be brilliant (but with a little less fire) - more a diamond I would use as a pendant than a ring. But a way better than average performer.
But as above - if you want to look at it from 6 inches you will be disapointed.

Hi Gary,

thank you for your expertise. May I ask if you had to chose between the 2.5ct above or this one:

Weight: 2.61
Color: G
Clarity: SI1(eye clean)
Measurements: 8.70x8.77x5.54mm
Table: 56%
Crown Height: 33.5
Pavilion Depth: 41.5
Total Depth: 63.3%

Which would you choose?
