Wedding As a member of the wedding party, which would you prefer?

Sorry I can''t figure out how to do a poll, but Haven''s thread on limos has me thinking...

We were planning on getting a limo to take the bridesmaids from the hotel we are getting ready to the church, and then the whole wedding party from the church to the reception (about a 10 minute drive). We are not stopping anywhere in between for pictures. However, I recently realized 2 things. 1: Most of the wedding party have significant others who will be at the wedding who are not in the wedding party who will be driving themselves from the ceremony to the reception. and 2: we can''t afford for transportation from the reception to the hotel for our guests (about a 1 minute drive, but not walkable, which stinks, but there are NO affordable options). So basically, they will need to get a ride to the hotel after the wedding but won''t have a car if we take a limo.

The only reason I was going to get a limo is because it''s expected, as I have no trouble arrive at the church in my car (I''m getting dressed at the church I believe). So if you were in the wedding party, would you rather drive yourself to the church and the reception and not have to worry about finding a ride to the hotel, or would you rather take a limo to the church and reception and have to find a ride to the hotel?

I''d rather drive myself and not have to worry about finding a ride, which is always an awkward situation, I believe.

Definitely - I''d prefer whatever route that didn''t leave me stranded. Our wedding party didn''t have transport from the reception to the hotel, but it was 2 blocks away on a perfect night. My only concern with having everyone drive themselves is making sure that everyone has arranged a DD if your wedding party is going to be cutting loose at the reception, to speak.

I personally would rather drive myself. I hate being stranded without my car and relying on others for transportation.

Hi Sabine,

From personal experience, I prefer to have my own vehicle. Being stranded after being "on duty" at a wedding all day is not my idea of a good time.

I say let your bridal party figure their own transportation out, or, if you are still able to do the limo thing, make sure your attendants'' dates can have a vehicle at the reception site. At one wedding I was in we rode to the church and reception site in the limo, then our dates/SO''s drove us home. That only works if you plan for that in advance, though.
