Hello! All my creeping of so many beautiful rings and ideas has me thinking of getting an Art Deco ring made, similar to the attached pic, except with rubies in the halo. Can you guys post your Art Deco rings with colored stones for more inspiration? Would greatly appreciate the help!

Of particular interest to me is the idea of an air gap between the bezel and halo. Maybe some beading, etc. Thanks!

Rubies would be beautiful in that setting.
I think you need french or carré cuts for it to look Art Deco tho I think your inspiration shows bead-set single/full cut rounds in the halo. That works when they’re colourless, I’m not sure it would for rubies. would love to see it when it’s finished!

Yes, the rubies would have to be French or carre cut. Also thinking about a transitional cut than MB.

Love! I had never thought about enamel but I’ve learned it’s part of this style. Who did your reproductions? My local jeweler has helped me with my custom whims but I’ll be curious to see what she suggests for this request.

The emerald onyx I bought from Rozental Jewelry - it was originally a rose cut diamond and my local person replaced it with an omc. The Ruby was an eBay seller (would have to look that one up - maybe Beverly Hills Antiques?)

Oh, onyx. Never thought of that. I’ve seen enamel, which seems a bit delicate to me. Your rings are just lovely!

Here are mine, one is a sapphire and original Art Deco work. The other is a ruby, not exactly Art Deco but sort of inspired by AD and was made by David Klass.

Thanks! Would you mind sharing how big your round stone is? I’m thinking of going with a 1.5 ct so wanted to know for perspective.

@Mreader and @caolsen, your octogonal rings inspired me and have gotten me closer to a final design! With a few tweaks to this little drawing by my local jeweler, like making the baguettes bigger/wider so they stand out structurally from the diamond halo, adding beaded definition between each angle on the diamond halo, and having the shank start as wide as the baguettes and taper down, I’m getting close!

The center stone will be a 1.92ct L VS1 transitional cut. Next step will be getting the cad drawing from the designer. Getting excited!

Lovely! I'm a big fan of linear shaped halos so can't wait to see it finished.

I love this design! Are you planning on having the milgrain "boxed" areas in your halo like your original design?

Like what I have outlined in yellow? (original design)

Capture.PNG

Cause...it seems like with your design they have pave right on the corner where milgrain should be? See the outlined blue area.

In this latest draft, we were tweaking on side length so the designer didn’t update diamond placement. There will actually be stones above and below the baguettes, too, but they’re not indicated here since the change in side length was so much. There will be 4 stones along the top and bottom, 2 on each clipped side, and 1 above and below each baguette, with milgrain to separate the sides.
