Now that the states are opening, I’m curious to know who is still choosing to stay in quarantine.

Nothing had changed for me in the past 2 months. If I needed groceries then I'll go to the grocery store wearing a mask. When the restaurants reopens for business then I'll eat out again. I will not let this virus turn me into a hermit.

Yes, I am. I'll start to see my parents again, but I need to minimize my exposure for their sake, which means that friends will have to wait.

Frankly, most of my friends don't really feel comfortable socializing without some distance measures anyway.

I'm keeping the same routine as I did when we were in lockdown with a few exceptions -- I've had my hair cut and will do it again in 6 wks, and I'm meeting at the shop of the interior designer who's working on plans for the house. Physical distancing and masks still in use. I'll stop doing both of those things if our 1st phase of reopening starts to go downhill.

We have 60 cases in the county where I live, no deaths, most have recovered.

I am basically doing most of the same things (grocery store weekly and Walmart on occasion) with a few added things this week. Hair appointment TODAY, yay!!!!!! Restaurants have just opened here with 50% capacity and various restrictions, but we will continue getting take-out awhile longer. Church has met on livestream and will also meet at the actual building this Sunday (but we haven't received the guidelines yet). I have a group of friends I meet with weekly and we started back meeting in person at a friend's home last week. There's plenty of room for us to spread out. Most are not wearing a mask primarily because there are few cases in our entire county, no deaths, and cloth masks aren't particularly effective anyway. We didn't see an increase in spread where we live for those first several weeks when no one was wearing them partially due to most people observing safe distance and asymptomatic spread appears to be uncommon in many circumstances. We are not in an urban area, so I think living more spread out really helps. I see my daughter and her children a few times a week. I miss things like going to movies and eating in restaurants, but that certainly is not a big deal (although I know it has been awful for all businesses that have been shut down for so long...our gyms and bars and some other businesses are still closed). I am very thankful we live in an area that has not seen much of a problem thus far, and I am so sad for those of you who do.

I have really just gone out this week for the first time since March. I went to the grocery store yesterday with a mask on, to the doctor for an appointment yesterday and out to eat today (gasp). That really was a stretch for me because I could not wear my N95 mask while eating but I wore it everywhere else. We were there when they opened and only one other table was being served when we left across the dining area. I was shocked by how many people were not wearing masks at the grocery store - probably half had them and half did not. We are moving to phase 3 in our state Monday which is supposed to be back to normal except for nursing home visits. There are only 181 active hospitalizations in the state as of yesterday and our daily rate of new infections has been very low. I personally don't know anyone who has had it nor has my husband even throughout his large company. I know that is not how it is everywhere and we are grateful. I was so hopeful my parents would visit that we took the antibody test to make sure a spring illness was not covid and it was not but they are too afraid to travel and are 8 hours drive away so would have to stop.

F-ing Yes!

Politicians, on both sides, care more about being reelected than doing the right thing for public health. :nono:
Politicians know the dead can't vote.

Regarding the "reopening" of states ... the virus itself could not be more pleased.

Pretty much, yes. Grocery store, a couple trips to weed and liquor stores, home depot a couple of times....I will get one haircut and that's about it for a while. No restaurants (I do takeout though), no bars. I will be masked everywhere.

Nope!!! Free as a bird (within government guidelines of course).

The kids have been ordered to go back to school so I figure it's game over once you bring festy kids into the equation.

I never went to bars so the only change is that I'll be going to more restaurants with my sister. And window shopping!!!

I ate out heaps during the period where the numbers were jumping and just before they locked us up so I plan to happily eat out once there are more places for me to eat!

I am continuing to go out to grocery shop and get essentials. Other than that, we are staying home. I continue to fear crowds and practice social distancing. I do plan to have a hair cut as soon as possible. When? Not sure. I will continue wearing a mask while out and about and constant sanitizing with my little spray bottle of alcohol that I carry with me at all times.

I will stay in my hermitude as long as I don't have to actually go to work. I grocery shop once every 1-2 weeks, go to my mom's house to visit outside every few weeks, I'll probably go more frequently once her pool is open , I pick up prepared food to go occasionally, I have one friend I will visit but we will hang on her balcony and she normally isolates even more than me so going there is low risk (I will wear a mask when walking through to the balcony). That's it until schools reopen.

Omg! Same! I wast just realizing that I was running around rampant until the very last day before shut-down! Casinos. Shopping. Restaurants. No masks back then. But I also remember panicking at some point when my allergies kicked in! I didn’t not enjoy the paranoia!! I remember thinking how irresponsible I would feel if I came down with Covid! So I’m kind of hesitant to throw caution to the wind. I’m convinced it’s safe outdoors with 6 ft distance. But not so much indoors bc i can’t gauge air circulation and no, won’t let strangers touch me yet for hair or nails, etc. I’m longing to go to Vegas but I’m going to give it one month to see what develops.

My county had close to 40,000 confirmed cases, with still over 100 new cases daily. 1,900 dead. It certainly is a huge improvement from a month ago but they just started opening things up yesterday. So I'll remain at home as long as I can and continue to take same precautions.

and yes
we are not going nowhere
NZ is now down in stage 2
100 people will soon be allowed in a gathering
i just do not trust other people to be safe

we do click and collect with the groceries once a fortnight and maybe one trip to the local grocery store if we run out of milk
chemist visits and doctors only

for as long as we can until NZ is decleared virus free which might be in 21 days

If I'm in dense areas I wear a mask as well as my daughter who is 5 wears one too but I cannot stay in anylonger. Its not healthy.

Weve gone on a few roadtrips in the state, eaten out, and are going hiking. When were alone or well distanced we dont wear masks. I'm also hyper aware of hand sanitizer and washing and making sure my daughter is using proper hand hygiene as well but no, no more staying in completely.

Staying home. My partner does the weekly shop, and has a regular M-F job. Other than that neither of us goes anywhere. I'm very restless as I traveled for work and that career is now frozen. It won't come back for at least another year so I expect things to become stressful as the year goes on. But no paycheck is worth my death.

Wow, this is exactly why "one size fits all" guidelines are so useless and why some of us are in quarantine and some are not. I can certainly see why you'd stay home! In my whole county, there have been a total of around 60 cases and there are currently only 15 active cases (the highest day ever was 16 cases and there have been no deaths). There is not a major city in my county, so we live in a less congested area which likely helps there be less spread.

Nope, we are back to work here in ACT, Oz. Pretty much most things seem back to normal apart from social distancing rules (ie. we altered seating at office to comply)

My area is still closed as we are close to NYC. I will continue to stay home until I have to go back to work. We do food shop weekly.

I will admit that I am a little nervous that when we are let out, our immunities will be lessened and there will be a lot of illnesses going around. I may be wrong, but my reasoning is this....I’m a teacher. Every summer, I am virtually a hermit. It never fails that I get sick every September when we return.

Yes, staying home. My office is closed until at least September so will be sticking close to home until then. Don’t need a hair cut, eating at home and take out are doing just fine. I’m uncomfortable going anywhere I can’t wear a mask or will be crowded with people.

this is really good
what steps is your country taking to keep the virus out ?
that's really wonderful you have had no deaths
where do you live? i want to raise a toast to your country's continued good health
here in NZ we have only one active case left, we have saddly had 22 deaths but everyone else is now recovered and the boarder is closed - its a bit eaiser when one is surrounded by sea

If you go to Vegas you have to tag me!!!! Can you peer in at a buffet for me?

I'm obsessed with finding out what the buffet situation is :lol-2:

I developed a sore throat about a week after my last sketchy buffet with international tourists. It was probably the only time I started getting nervous but I was back to my usual self the next day much to my relief.

Dang it...now Im hungry!!!

Eating from a buffet during COVID.....one must have balls of steel and an iron immune system not to mention gut. Hahaha

My poor blonde and blue eyed boy has the whitest stomach, he eats just one bite of something slightly oriental or exotic and hes running to the bathroom!

hmmm that's a good point, but masks and continued hand washing will surly help
here with the boarder closed when we were on lockdown have had basically no colds or flu and people coming in have to quarenteen

how old are your kids in your class ?
i was thinking how kids learn like a sponge and will be really good with hand washing and other preventative covid 19 messures from a certain age
like how quite young kids are good at recycling
