Hello, I just received a ring and a bracelet. They both appear to be gold and I was curious if the stones are real diamond or not. I have no experience with this, I put them under my digital microscope for pictures, I hope the images are acceptable, I played around with the focus to make everything as visible as possible, that is why there is multiple pictures of each, not everything showed up on the same focus depth. I really appreciate the input.

I understand it may be impossible to determine whether they are real or fake from pictures, I'm not looking for a 100% guarantee, just whether they are obvious fakes or obviously real.

Hard to say, but usually fake stones designed to mimic diamonds are flawless or near flawless in clarity.

The inclusions make the ring look real.

Are theee any stamps on the metal (inside the ring band/on clasp of bracelet)? What does it say?

Soak both in a glass of very hot water with several drops of dawn dish soap for 10 minutes. Nowhere near a sink. One by one scrub the diamonds with a toothbrush paying careful attention to the back sides of the stones and put them back in the soapy water. Nowhere near the sink. Then take them out and scrub again. Get a new glass with clean water and swish them around in there, then dry with a cloth (not by sink).

When you're good and dry, take a couple more pics for us. They look real, but filthy.

Yes they do, they are both stamped 14k. I'll go clean them all up and take more pictures. Thank you!

Given that they are in 14kt gold and the ring certainly has what looks like carbon flecks, I’d say yes, they are likely real gems, not glass / CZ. They could be diamonds or also white sapphires, white topaz or even white zircon (as in the natural gem not man made CZ).
Any jeweller or pawn broker shop with a Presidum gem tester can tell you in minutes if they are diamond or something else. If you got them cheap, lucky you, looks like a “great score”!

Maybe you could go to a local Jeweler and ask them to test them for you? I know one in my town that does it for free. Also, there are resources in the net for DIY diamond tests at home. I’ve not actually done them myself but seems like it could be helpful for the larger stones.

Yes, they are real diamonds.

Wow that bath really made a difference! Thanks for sharing with us. What do you plan to do with them?

The rubies look heavily treated or synthetic, but Agee on most of the diamonds. Could you take a few more pics of the earrings?

I'm going to hold on to them for a little while. I'm not really in any rush to sell, I was very curious if they were real or not though.

Sure, I can take a few more pictures shortly. Thanks for the input.
