Are rings with a larger total carat weight irritating to wear all the time?

Noooooooooooo way!!! As mentionned above, it becomes one with your hands. I truly think that my ring is my best life companion. It sees so many things :)

Well mine is 2.55 ct - so not overly large - but feels completely fine on my hand and not at all awkward, in fact, part of me as Lorelei says!

mine is a 2.52. it''s not irritating, but it''s not always appropriate to wear it either.

Mine is a 3.03 plus about 2 carats on the ring and sometimes I forget I''m wearing it. You definitely get used to it over time.

My center stone is 2.52 plus another .85 cts and I don''t even know I''m wearing it. I also wear a wedding band which doesn''t bother me either.

Hello,

I personally wear (every day/every where) a total of 6.50ct between my engagement ring and 5 stone anniversary band and can tell you it is definately not irritating!

I have yet to find a size that is irritating because of its large size [use 6.39 and 6.89 carat stones for daily wear].

I wish I had to bear the irritation of a large stone!

even if that were true, I think that''s something I could put up with!

This is one of my concerns with a larger ring. I teach in a school where 90-95% of the kids are on free & reduced lunch and we have parents in the office crying because they can''t afford to by their child a $10-15 uniform shirt. So depending on what type of places you frequent, this could be an issue.

Do larger stones turn more than smaller ones? (Meaning the ring turns on your finger.)

Probably, right?

Mine does. But my ring is a little big so I can''t wear it it on it''s own. Two stackers keeps it in place most of the time.

Oh, O.K., thanks.

You mean a thin band on each side?

Love half bezels, btw.

Thanks

I usually wear 2 thin bands below the ring and it works

My fake trinity ring also does the trick.

This may be a dumb question, but when the weather is cold and you want/need to wear gloves, do you not wear your e-ring, or do you find really big gloves to fit over your hand with the ring still on? I don''t have this problem, as my e-ring is a 1/4 ct solitaire, but I have wondered it about the larger carat weights.

I''ll be honest and say that at first my rings felt heavy on and I swear my finger was a little achy, but that''s because my rings are pure platinum and that metal is just heavy (plus the designs of my rings use a lot of platinum) I do know I have my rings on and can feel them through-out the day, I am getting more and more used to wearing them though, but still I have not reached the "I can hardly feel it" moment. They are so heavy that I especially know when I DON''T have them on because my finger definitely feels lighter. Diamonds themselves are not heavy, but the size does get in the way at times - I guess depending on the setting as well. The ring I am wearing now is the 2.52 ct. solitaire - not huge but I do knock it around a lot and it does swing to the side from time to time. My 2.21ct and 2.22ct rings do the same thing as well.

Oh, to have this problem.

Not any different from wearing high heels over 4 inches. I first manage and then get used to them.

I just pull the gloves over the rings. If they are dress gloves then you will see a bulge. With ski gloves you can''t tell.

True, good point.

Never bothered me.
How big would it have to be, to be a bother? tee hee ;)

There are some social situations when people might choose not to wear their large rings I assume. Also some practical ones. I am an Elementary Art Teacher, and my hands are covered with clay and finger paint. During the day when I am teaching I wear my diamond ring on my necklace. Dont ever just leave it in a purse or a drawer! This is the same reason why I chose a plain gold band... because regardless of social or physical situations I can always wear that.

I love this! I know it''s because I''m a klutz, but--if I wore high heels over 4 inches, I might possibly become a paraplegic!!!
