Are paraiba tourmalines actually rare?

Off-topic alert, however, @mellowyellowgirl do you think my cheapo Chrysoprase could pass as a cheapo Jadeite???!!! :lol-2::lol-2::lol-2:

One last pic of my stone, the big 'cloud' that was not obvious in all the photos and the video of the listing (my photo has been turned sideways as already reported by @mellowyellowgirl as an issue).

I was expecting the clarity of the stone not to be great, however, I was not expecting such a big fuzzy 'cloud' in the middle of the stone.

I shall give the seller the benefit of the doubt that it was not hidden from view deliberately. :roll2:

Yeah these type of cabs are tough, because different inclusions will be more visible at different angles (when the light hits just so). You can bet when photographing them, most vendors will only show their best side.

That's why I like the likes of Paraiba International and Jeff Davies, as their videos are 360deg.

Lesson learnt - beware of videos that are not 360deg.

I wouldn’t. Sellers know fully well how important clarity is and how such prominent inclusions are perceived. An honest seller will always point out something so visible as to not have a disappointed buyer.

For what it’s worth, I really like the colour in your pictures, even if it isn’t up to expectations. It’s gentle and really sweet.

Thanks for that.

I am returning the stone as I am not going to waste money on setting it as I am disappointed with it.

Closure of my Paraiba Tourmaline purchase, in that the Etsy seller had refunded my purchase.

He offered to take more photos and videos if I am interested in his other listings in future.

I did not have the heart to ask if he could do that without colour manipulation.

Lessons learnt:
* If something is too good to be true, be prepared to be disappointed.
* For high ticket CSs and pearls, shop in person, or shop from a trusted vendors/sellers.

Oh yaaaaaay @dk168

So happy you got your money back!!! I count everything in the currency of Labubus these days so everything matters because it will add up to 1,2, 3 Labubus etc :lol-2:
