Hello,
I''ve been lurking here a while and I finally decided to register today. I have a question regarding insurance. My husband purchased my ring at a maul store. Unfortunately I didn''t find this website until after the purchase

. So... I had a tiffany style .72 RB. Although I picked it out I was never thrilled with the setting. It was too thin and kind of plain. I had it reset and the band is thicker and it has three little diamonds on each side. I still haven''t purchased insurance yet and I was going to use the original appraisal info that the maul store gave me. can I use the paperwork that came with the original ring? We are trying to pay off some bills right now and I really don''t want to put out extra $$ for an appraisal.

If the insurance company lets you use it, you can. Some insurance companies require certain amounts of info on it. Your mall "appraisal" might not have enough of the info that the ins co wants.

The other risk is that if they do take that mall appraisal, if something happens, it leaves more wiggle room for the ins co to give you a crappier replacement than the one you originally have since they can fudge on more factors.

There are some good insurance articles here :
