I didn’t read the book.

It’s held my interested and getting interesting now... episode 3 aired last night.

I think it's pretty good. I love southern Gothic but I think it's going to get pretty dark. Wow, the mom is cray cray!

I love a good southern gothic myself. Camille and Amma are such great characters, but Adora is so complex. How did she get to be so domineering?

Did you catch that she and Alan have separate bedrooms?

Yes and I think Alan is going to get to be a more important character - that scene at the end where he bites his fist.

I thought Amma and the pig scene was uber creepy!

My guess is Camille was abused (probably raped) and Adora blamed her for it because it stained the family name. Maybe something bad happened to Adora too and she thinks it's the proper thing to just keep it all in?

Maybe Amma is Camille’s child?

I saw the first two episodes! Need to catch up on the third.

I’m going to miss this Sunday’s episode unless I watch on HBO go.

I’m trying to work out how old Adora is because she seems too old for Amma to be her daughter.

Why are these girls always roller skating? Lol

Alan seems repressed creepy to me. I want to like him, but he seems weird.
Alan is like the Dad that never knows what is going on in the house. Nor does it seem he cares anymore. Adora sure puts him off.

In the first episode, I was under the impression Alan had never met Camille. Did he not say, “who?” when Adora said Camille was there?

In poking around the internet, I see Camille is Adora’s oldest, unknown father, apparently they never married (scandalous for sure). Marian (deceased) and Amma are both Alan and Adora’s Children.

He has apparently been around for a while.

FOR ANYONE JOINING US LATE, I ASSUME THERE MAY BE SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT FOR YOU. Tread carefully.

Oh, yeah, the pig scene is creepy. I mean WTF. I think Amma is mentally ill. First off, how can she keep up that dichotomy of a dual life at age 15? I think a healthy daughter would rebel? IDK. Of course, Adora’s girls are going to be messed up. She has a lot of problems.

Lol, I'm pretty sure mental illness runs in Adora's family! But, I love a small southern town setting. There is a lot of stereotyping but so much is real! My grandmother was a bit obsessive about appearances. Loved her with all my heart but that was just the way it was, lol!

I’ve been living in a small southern town for 20 years now. When I first moved to my town, we only had one flashing yellow light and a population of 1,000. I believe Wind Gap has a population of about 2500? I think I read that somewhere.

So, yup.lol

I'm in houston now but my roots are definitely small town!

I love the show. Have not read the book. The characters are def deep, and there is a LOT going on with each of them.
I love how the attention is focused on the male family members of the victims. It’s kinda a plot thickener, although, I doubt either of them have anything to do with the murders.
Camille’s character is multifaceted. She is heavily layered. A little more about her is revealed, each episode. The sheriff is typical, small town.
I can’t get enough of this series!

Do you think Adora and the sheriff have/had a thing? They seemed awfully intimate in the kitchen

Didn’t get that vibe, but they have history, somewhere. She’s WAY too involved around town. Definitely hiding her skeletons in the closet.

Well, that’s true. Adora is a busy body.

She’s hell bent on alienating Camille, even though, Camille grew up in that town. Adora needs a good slap; she’s interfering with Camille’s career! The poor girl didn’t come home for a reunion, for crying out loud!! She’s on assignment!! Mama seems a bit resentful, and paranoid. There’s a lot going on under the surface, there....

That was all a bit much. Bulldozer parent to an adult child.

Absolutely. My DH & I watch this show, together, and we have both said, out loud, “If that b*tch was my mother, I’d knock her out!” lol!!!

DH found an article that said Alan’s stereo components cost 80k and that does not include the 12k headphones

Just caught up on Ep. 4. ...and the plot thickens!!!
:eek2:
