We're finally close to making a purchase!! I was hoping I could get some help finding round stones based on the specifications below.....

Budget of $2500-2800 for the stone only
.75-.85 carat range
great cut but it doesn't have to be ideal or H&A
prefer no lower than G color...maybe H
eye clean SI1
slight flour. is ok

would love to find a stone with a good spread

I know how much all of you love looking at and for diamonds so any suggestions welcome! I've been reading this board for a while now but I still feel like I have no idea how to actually choose a diamond.

Thanks!!

Ellen--Should I be concerned about surface graining? Or is that something that I won't be able to see with just my eyes? Would it be possible to get .75-.80 if I go with a very good cut but not "ideal"?

I''m really hoping to stay no lower than H. Hopefully we can find something great within our budget.

Well, it would be prudent to ask the vendor, but at VS2, I don''t think it will be an issue.

I tried to fing you a bit bigger stone while loosening the grading a bit, but all I was coming up with I didn''t really feel comfortable with/ recommending.

Let me add, the little bit more you may be seeking, really wouldn''t be noticable. A .75 is basically going to be the same visually as a .80-.85.

I'm a size girl, so what about these?

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=131&item=895808 (should be within budget if you wire the money, but ask about the inclusions)

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=131&item=962672 (ask about the inclusion...could be prongable)

ETA:

THis one looks like it could be eyeclean: http://www.exceldiamonds.com/diamond/47647.html (.8 F SI2 for $2400)

I'd request more info on this one: http://www.exceldiamonds.com/diamond/58883.html (.8 G VS2 for $2800)

Again, so sorry for bumping but we''re hoping to make a purchase very soon. I''ve checked out all the suggestions and sent a few emails asking about the stones. Any other suggestions? Thanks everyone! Your help has been invaluable in this process!!

I have but I''m just not sure after all this time that I can pick a good stone. I guess I''ll just have to choose a vendor and trust them. I do searches but tons of stones will the same kind of specs come up but I''m just not sure how to pick one. Does that make any sense? I''ve just seen the ability of so many here to pick *great* stones out of what''s available and was hoping I could get that help too. I know it''s ultimately up to me (well, my boyfriend actually) but I guess I just don''t trust myself.

Ellen''s G VS2 is spready enough that it looks like .75. I aim for 5.8 mm. It would be an excellent choice, but I''ve found a couple that are <2800

James Allen''s site seems to be down...but I can confirm, after having searched myself, that Juie''s options from BN meets your specs, and does it for me.

Murr, the notes below my signature describe my process. The search by cut options start above $3K, if you constrain based on what you''ve already said you want. Then, search all, look for AGS0 only, see that the cert provides 0 for light performance...I see one option.
