I'm a huge Roger Federer fan (artistic player, so very graceful, well spoken, well dressed and so very nice to look at). I admire Maria Sharapova's tenacity/grit. Novak is huge and seems to have a great personality. Victoria Azarenka, too.
My body is pretty beat up from the work I do (we discussed this before, if you recall) but I still play in a limited sort of way, sometimes.
I'm a huge Roger fan, and I really like Andy Murray too. I love the male french players like Tsonga and Monfils, they are so exciting to watch! Not overly fussed about any of the female players, I liked Clijsters when whe was around.
Roger is an incredibly elegant player, making tennis look effortless. He has millions of fans already and doesn't need mine. I am saddened by the loss of game depth in the current ladies' side. There used to be many more chip & charge / serve & volley players, a variety of strokes (underspin, drop shots, etc) which made it so exciting to watch. Today, it gets tiring watching the same old baseline hugging, grunting, top spin groundies.
I love tennis! I've played all my life, as did my parents. I still have an old Bobby Riggs racket that must have been my Dad's. In my childhood feminist fervor I scratched out his portrait on one side....I was for Billie Jean King all the way!) anyone old enough to remember that challenge?
And now I am a Federer fan. He's so Swiss!
I'm hoping to gently coax my daughter into loving it. I've been getting her out on the courts since she was 4. So far so good.
