Anyone other than GOG currently cut vintage style Rounds?

HI all,

My GF has really become enamored with the vintage cut rounds. I know that GOG has the AVR that are cut to look vintage while using the precision of today's equipment and maximizing the sparkle and light return they couldn't get back in the day.

My questions are: Are there other cutters also making vintage style rounds today? Who are they and can they be reached online?

I think the AVR are awesome, I just want to know if there is more choice out there than just GOG.

Thanks for your help!

I haven't seen other rounds, just cushions.

Agreed.

Any reason you don't want to go through GOG? They are an amazing company.

From everything I hear, GOG is amazing. I'm not ruling out working with GOG, I just wanted a few more options for sources of newly cut vintage style rounds. I had heard that there were other vendors starting to do that, but didn't know who else.

Gotcha. Unfortunately GOG is the only one I know of who does rounds. Some others have popped up doing cushions. The other thing you could do is contact some of the well known vendors about a true antique round with great light performance. Tell them you're from Pricescope and see what they come up with. There is something so charming about a true antique.

I *believe* that Mark at Engagement Rings Direct also does a vintage style diamond as well- I"m just not sure if they are rounds. Someone on PS said they were just as nice as GOG but much cheaper!

They are cushions. And I am not sure they are cut for light performance to the degree the one's from GOG are.

You can do a search on Polygon (polygon.net) for Old European Cuts. www.usacerteddiamonds.com has a Polygon search under "Other" but it seems that not all the OEC's are listed there that are on Polygon. You have to be a member in the jewelry trade to get the prices of the stones on Polygon but any reputable online company like GOG, ERD (engagementringsdirect), and Old World Diamonds can call in stones listed on Polygon. Don't forget that these vendors know the cutters that are cutting these and will source your stone for you. I believe they get first pick at these before they hit the regular search sites, but don't know that for a fact. I think GOG offers the very best service in this area for testing for performance. They also have access to antique OEC's. OEC's are my favorites too. Especially the AVR's, but I'm also looking for an old cut round for sake of antiquity and personality.
Good luck

ERD supplies european brilliants. No harm in taking a look to see if there are any contenders. ASETs, of course, will help determing cut quality.
