Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I wonder if anyone here might be able to share their thoughts on Whiteflash’s 6-prong martini stud setting?

Pros? Cons?

Overall satisfaction level?

I am working on a pair of 3.8 ctw diamond studs and am heavily leaning towards the martini setting because I know that the basket setting will droop and hang off the earlobe with the weight of the studs. This has been my experience when trying studs on in-store anyways.

Also, if you have pictures of your own studs to share, that would be most helpful (especially if on the earlobes). Either basket or martini settings.

Thanks so much!

I don’t own the settings but just wanted to chime in to say I adore both of these six prong settings. ❤
Looking forward to seeing your gorgeous studs! That’s a wonderful size❤️

I love WF’s 6-prong martini settings but didn’t care for them on me. I’d worn their 3-prong martinis for many years but decided to go with the 6-prongs when I got larger earrings. I tried 1.68ctw first in the 6 prongs then went up to 2.16 ctw and finally decided that I didn’t like being able to see so much setting with the 6 prongs, especially from the side. I downgraded the size of my studs to 1.84c and went with the three pronged martinis again and I love them.

I hope these are in order: 1.68ctw I’s, 2.16ctw J’s, and 1.84ctw G’s:

That was very helpful! Thank you very much for your insight.

I had never thought about the amount of setting showing, since I thought the martinis would “sink” into the earlobe. In fact, that’s many people’s complaint about them: that the studs look flat and stuck-on and lose their projection.

Interestingly, where the martini stems meet the posts differ between the 3 and 6 prong settings (see pic).

Did you happen to notice any differences in the way that the settings sat on the earlobes in terms of droop or projection?

Thanks again!

Yes, the 6-prong has more of a donut than the three prong. I loved that about the 6-prong in the pictures, but on my ear, I didn’t like seeing as much setting. I can’t be sure if I was seeing more setting or maybe it was just more prongs. I just didn’t like seeing metal from the sides instead of diamond. I forgot to mention that I got the jumbo backs. I have not had any issue with drooping with these larger backs. And I know people have complained about the martinis sinking into their holes, but I have not had that problem. It’s a tough call and a personal one. It took me three tries to get what I consider the perfect size, color, and settings for my studs.
