Anyone have a branded quadex?

Lol, right out of the box because I didnt have long before I had to head to work. Defininitrly any smudges are from my hands/dirt. I was mostly interested in the facet "crispness " using the ASET. I'm very interested to compare it to the BGD one!

Looking forward to such comparison too!

I dont know how people take pics of 2 stones at once! I mostly had to try to get separate images to show differences and similarities. I also cleaned the JA stone.

Round box is JA, square box is BGD.



On my hand, JA is on top. In the stone holders, JA is on the right.


Observations: the BGD stone has cleaner and clearer facets and is clearly more precision cut. However, I prefer the fully "square" look of the JA (the quadex is slightly rectangular in dimensions). I also prefer the thicker arrows of the JA option.

I think/suspect that the blue nile "astor" stones might be a good "middle ground" for me. They'll be more precision cut than the JA stone, but will retain the square shape and thick arrows that I like. So my first instinct is to return both of these and buy one of the astor stones (or if BN can ship fast I could compare all 3).

I'm so glad you got the chance to compare these and decide which you liked better. I can't wait to see what you think of the Blue Nile stone!

The thoughts about rectangular vs square are very interesting, too. I have my pendant in a bezel so I hadn't really noticed that it might NOT be square. I'll have to check the dimensions on my Quadexes!

Not yet. I decided to return both the JA and BGD, so I was waiting on those refunds to go through. And then I had a disturbing experience where a pricey piece I sold to a PSer got stolen in transit, which made me lose interest in buying stuff (temporarily, lol)

I remembered seeing the thread on your theft after I posted this question, and figured this might have something to do with a pause in this project. Such a horrible event - you must feel so violated.
