Anyone ever heard of old stage coach earrings...

...that would conceal diamonds? I recall reading about them years ago and occasionally would search for them online or in antique stores. Apparently, they would typically be dangle style earrings that had a metal ball that would snap over the diamond drop to conceal it to fool would-be robbers and hide the diamonds from their view.

I have seen a pair - that had beautiful gold granulation (Kentshire Galleries in New York).

They are very rare and hard to come by, therefore they are very expensive.
