Anyone ever changed from an EC to something else?

Have you? If so, what were your reasons? Did you change shape (ie. to a round or a princess), or did you go from an EC to a radiant or a cushion?

I've been giving serious thought to changing my EC to something more sparkly. I love my stone - in certain lighting conditions, but in others, the side stones outshine it. Initially, I was drawn to the emerald cut due to its elegance, which I still love.

Maybe I need a new setting? I'm frustrated b/c I don't really know what I want. More sparkle? Less sparkle and more classic/elegance with a simple solitaire and plain band?

I'm also in love with bezel settings, but I've yet to find much of anything for an emerald cut that doesn't look harsh. I really like the curves of the Tiffany Bezet (wish they made it for an emerald cut!).

One of my biggest complaints about my setting is that the sides are more of a pipe cut, and there's no rounding of it.

Alas, I know I want something different, but I can't even make up my mind about what I want!

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I think there was another poster here recently who was having your same issue.

I honestly don't think it occurs often, for EC & RBC lovers have completely different outlooks when it comes to what they want in their diamond. This can very well change over time as we continue to mature our "tastebuds" and come into our own.

A good option for you would be to begin looking at more intrinsic settings for your EC. If that doesn't do it for you, and you find yourself longing for more sparkle from your center...it may be time to convert.

Try a different setting first, low key no side diamonds, and see if that is why you fell in love with the EC orginally... JA is not super expensive, and if that doesn't work, then maybe a change of shape is what you long for? This way with a change in setting, you only change one thing as oppose to setting and diamond which could be more costly if you don't love the way it looks?
