Everything has been great in bf and gf land and I couldn't be happier. I've really relaxed and am enjoying the gf phase because a few months ago it dawned on me that I get to be his wife forever and only get to be his gf for a little while longer! Since then, I've really laid off the LIW and let things flow as they should. He's brought it up a few times and I found out that he had been planning on proposing in Dec (before my time to leave was up in Canada) but we went to the states and I got another 6 months free and clear. He wants the proposal to be a surprise (because it's almost impossible to surprise me, I ALWAYS figure it out) and so I don't think he's going to propose in Dec. any longer, but it will be done by March! I know this period of time is going to fly because we have the Canadian Thanksgiving soon and we have plans for both weekends. Then my dad flies up in early Nov. to visit for thanksgiving, and then we travel to the states for a Michigan thanksgiving, which brings me to Dec. already! Which that month is going to fly because it's Christmas and the end of my classes for the semester. Then the new year is here and finally Feb, which we met on Feb. 2nd, started dating on valentines day and at the end of the month it's my birthday! So, he's got TONS of days he can pick to plan something special and I can't help but be excited!

And I think I've found our wedding venue! http://www.vintage-hotels.com/millcroft/wedding_reception_spaces.htm

Things are coming together and life is pretty great on this end! I hope the other LIW are doing well and lets here your updates or what you thinks coming up for you! I think our wedding will be THIS June, so it's going to be one heck of a short engagement and some last minute wedding planning but I can't imagine it any other way! :appl:

So anyone else think they'll have a holiday proposal?

I'm desperately hoping I will have a holiday proposal! To me, it would just be ideal because we would already be traveling to visit family for the holidays and what better than to celebrate the holidays and an engagement! :) With BF's new promotion, he could very well have saved up the money for the ring by Christmas. I believe at the absolute latest we will be engaged by next February. We both get so excited thinking about how soon it is coming up! BF promised me another ring shopping trip a few months ago so that I can check out how color sensitive I am in terms of ideal cut diamonds. So, we will be doing that hopefully in a few weeks.

With my new second job, and all my school responsibilities, I have stayed super busy. I know these next few months are going to fly by and before I know it I will be engaged. So, like you, I am trying to just go with the flow and be happy with the way things are now. This has so far been relatively easy considering I don't have much time to think about getting engaged or rings or anything right now!

We are hoping for a June 2012 wedding, so we really have plenty of time to get things together. But, I'm still super excited!! :D Oh and last week, BF and I were looking at houses online and we found one that is perfect! We had planned to just get an apartment when I graduate next spring because we didn't think we could afford a house yet. But, this house is surprisingly affordable and has everything we want in a house. So, if it's still on the market when I graduate (*crosses fingers*) then we will go ahead and pull the trigger for it!

I have the same idea as MayFlowers (& house dust to you!), I'm very hopeful that it will happen over the holidays since we'll be able to tell everyone and be filled with even more holiday joy than usual. Right now there's a lot riding on a deal that SO is supposed to close at work, if everything goes smoothly I'm almost positive I'll get a holiday proposal. If the deal doesn't go as planned I'm sure it will happen for us in 2011, but maybe not over the holidays. I'm really crossing my fingers to hear some good news about SO's work this friday so we can celebrate all long weekend (It's Thanksgiving in Canada!)

On another note SO and I have entered a contest to win an engagement ring and dream proposal. We'll be telling family this weekend in person about it and that they should vote for us. We want to give them a heads up before we post a "Vote for us" on our FB status and shock everyone. Hopefully our family who uses FB will also make it their status and we'll win (OMG!), but we'll have to see how this all pans out. We'll know by November 1st if we made it into the top 3. If we didn't then that gives him about 2 months before x-mas to come up with an engagement plan/ring if he chooses to do it over the holidays ... we shall see!

redrose229 Have you checked out Hockley Resort? http://www.hockley.com/weddings
I was there for a Christmas party 2 years ago and it was a beautiful place. The room I stayed in was an upgraded suite and it was amazing! We had our dinner (amazing food!) and dancing in the Montclaire ballroom. I didn't get to see the grounds that much since it was winter, but they had a cool campfire thing going on for people roast marsh mellows. We should start a thread to organize some sort of GTA get together.

I am likewise expecting a proposal around the holidays. Just before Christmas would be perfect! I know for a fact it will be before my birthday, February 5th, when I turn the big 30. I won't lie: the desire for a "surprise" proposal is all my boyfriend's. I don't see the point in waiting, when we've already discussed it, committed to marrying one another, and our family and friends all already know, and especially once we pick out a ring together. I don't get why we can't just agree to be engaged at that point, but the boyfriend is adamant that we must have a big to-do, so we have to wait for the right moment, and I must be agonizingly patient. Fun fun! I'm sure it will be worthwhile in the long run.

I actually think/ am seriously hoping for a Halloween proposal. I know that sounds so weird but we met at a Halloween party.. Well actually we sort of "re-met" is that the right word? I think I just made it up. Anyway, it's sort of a special day for us : )

December is a big month for us too, my birthday is the 6th, our anniversary is the 13th, Christmas is obviously the 25th, my bestfriend (and our roommate)'s birthday is the 29th, and then there's New Years Eve. So I think he will like to opt out of needing to remember another day in December.

Yay guys! I'm so excited for both of you! I hope your home plans go well! *DUST* your way for both! We meet with the bank tomorrow to discuss everything from investments, savings and what kind of load we can get. Mainly it's just to see where we are at so we know where are are starting from and what we have to do to get where we want to be. Exciting times though!

Glitz: I'm DYING for a Toronto G2G. The last one we had scheduled there was a mix up and one of us sat there on the wrong day and it was canceled. I haven't spent to much time out of the apt on my own yet and I'm in need to meet new people and make some friends! But I'm scared to drive to much around here because in the area I live people can't drive at all! And that's saying something because I lived in Houston for 3 years! So we should plan a get together soon. I'll post an announcement in hangout although we'll have to wait until after the holidays because one of the GTA ladies is headed to Egypt I think. If you post your link and info I'm more than happy to go vote for you! I wish I could find you on FB I'd totally vote for you! The resort you linked looks beautiful! I'll have to check it out a little more. It's really going to depend on who has the dates open or not because by the time I get a formal proposal (no booking venues before then, per his request) I'm sure I'll only have 4 months until the wedding date. So, I'm hoping someone will be open! We are planning a Sunday afternoon event I think, so that opens more options! *DUST to the contest and to the closing for your bf on his deal*

Blacksand: I have the same issues you are having! We've had the ring for 6 months and he's even said that June would be a good time to consider. So, we know we are getting married, I know a proposal is coming and isn't an engagement telling the world that you are going to get married EVENTUALLY? Doesn't have to be that same day! However after thinking about it some more, believe it or not, it's a big deal for a guy to have a great story for the proposal. It's something that he gets to tell (or have told about him) for the rest of his life and so doing it "their way" and on "their time" allows them to have something special too. And by golly I'm going to let him have his moment because I get him for the rest of my life! It's the least I can do :praise:

The good news is IT'S COMING and we have a time line! That is more than lots of woman have! So yipppee to being unofficially official and we only have to wait for the awesome proposal that makes us feel like the princesses we are and gives us an amazing story to be able to share forever! :appl:

As stupid as it sounds, because im fairly sure it wont happen, im hoping for a Halloween proposal. We both love halloween, and its always a lot of fun for us, more so than christmas or thanksgving( sad memories), so im kinda of hoping for a halloween proposal. That and we are having throwing our first halloween party :appl: ....which reminds me, i need to be headed to the craft store

Jessie: It's not silly! My gf just got engaged and they are having a Halloween themed wedding in Oct (I think the 22nd) and I even think she's having a Corpus Bride cake (it's actually pretty awesome looking). I'll post pics of her ring after it's made, its a .95 yellow princess cut diamond with pave in platinum.

DUST for a Halloween proposal! I'm sorry the holidays are a sad time for you. Perhaps if he proposes during that time it will make it have more happier memories for you. *HUGS*

redrose229 I posted a link yesterday and asked for votes, I was really banking on PS for getting votes. It was taken down just as fast as it was posted though, I think it was against PS policy. The ring that we're trying to win is a Simon G. I get what you're saying about Toronto drivers too, every time I come down I park my car at Yorkdale Mall and take the subway into the city, driving into the city is enough to give me an anxiety attack :errrr:

~* DUST FOR HALLOWEEN *~

I don't think it's stupid, but I'm a little biased. Maybe we'll be date twins : )

We have a timeline, which is a proposal by early 2011 (Feb-March) latest!

A holiday proposal is a possibility, but I sort of doubt it. FF has some deals that he needs to close at work and while its a possibility, I think closing the deals, purchasing my dream ring and planning a proposal is a lot to manage by December, so in my mind I'm not counting on it at all.

Although, like everyone else, we have a lot going on for the holidays so I'd actually kind of prefer the proposal to be after all the hub-bub of the holidays so we can focus on our engagement!!

<<<DUST>>> to all the possible holiday proposals!!!!

Thanks Ladies, im not keeping up hope, but it would be a surpise.

****DUST******

I HOPE!!!! Oh I seriously hope. Who really knows the inner workings in the mind of my SO though. Might happen, probably wont.

Honestly, he will not do it until he is completely ready, thats just what he is like. One thing I do love about him is he always sticks to his guns. He is a strong, smart, cautious, independant, loveable guy.

And I would wait forever (probably).

Koh Samui would be just perfect though. Or dinner at the Mandarin Oriental in KL (with views of the Petronis Towers). *sigh*

I am going to stop thinking about it now, lol.

I was hoping for a holiday engagement, but SO's best friend just have him the GREAT advice that he shouldn't do it on a holiday! The reasoning is that if we ever split up, he could never get the ring back because it would've not only been just an e-ring, but also a gift on that holiday. That's fantastic logic, dear SO's friend. :nono: I don't know if he will really go by that, though.

We talked about it yesterday, and he said it should happen before Christmas! I've been trying to figure out when that could be, but I'm getting no where. This month is almost over, he is traveling a lot in November/early December...so...middle Dec? Who knows.

What a d*ck. I hope your boyfriend doesnt take that advice seriously.

Seriously! It's so annoying that just because he has a history of bad relationships that he is giving SO bad advice. SO is NOTHING like him.

Well if he is nothing like him than he probably wont take his advice. Honestly its no surprise this guy has had a string of failed romances when he is preparing to fail.

But on a nicer note, if your SO told you he was probably just doing it to try and see your reaction, and possibly even put you off his trail! :P

If you overheard this guy telling your SO you should have called him out on what an butthead he was  . I would have, what a toss lol.
