For such a leading lab, why don''t they include the crown/pavillion angles that everyone here thinks is so important? Or the CUT rating atleast? Now I have to pay extra to have these things determined.
This is a hotly debated subject...search for previous posts in the archives. There's no cut rating on the GIA certs yet because there is no one cut rating scale to use. Everyone has their own determination on what is the right way to grade cut. From what I have read in the past, GIA is getting close to adopting a grade scale, just as AGS is changing theirs.
In the meantime, request a Sarin for the angles, and then make your own determinations. For me, even though AGS certs have angles and more information on them, I would still double check those numbers with a Sarin and also do my own research to ensure that the angles and number results are within where *I* feel my diamond should fit. So I wouldn't take a grade as gospel anyway in the end...AGS0 does not always mean an excellently cut stone just as GIA EX EX doesn't either.
Good luck!
