Anyone else find jeans insanely uncomfortable? (I guess this is a spin off from the yoga pants thread.)

I love the look and so wish I could wear them but are your clothes supposed to be so painful that you head for the pain killers and it totally grouches you out to where you can't even talk. Yes, I've tried stretch ones, light weight ones, . . . no good.

I guess I'd better start by saying I have fibromyalgia and everything hurts all the time, sometimes/often horrifically.

I usually wear yoga pants or skirts or dresses. (I am a normal weight, btw.) What can I say?

Anyone else can't wear jeans?

Me! I like to sit with my legs folded under me, bent to the side, or crossed, and jeans don't allow it. Even jeans with stretch feels too stiff. I need to be able to contort myself.

I can wear jeans but I just prefer many other fashions to jeans. I also don't find it as comfortable as other options but that depends on the jean fit and material more than anything else. I prefer lightweight soft jeans to heavy stiffer jeans. In fact my favorite pair is from the 90's (banana republic flare jean) LOL and I occasionally wear it to make my dh happy as he loves when I wear jeans.

I'm just not a jeans girl. There are so many other looks I like better. I'm also not into sneakers. I don't love that look either and with jeans- well not my cup of tea. Sneakers are for sports and working out IMO and anywhere else they just don't look smart (IMO)- I do not want to offend anyone. This is my personal taste preference.

Huh! I'm a contortionist, too, and jeans have always worked for me. That said, I have, like, two brands I'm insanely loyal to. But in those brands - Hudson and Chloe - I have done everything from rock-climbing to flying (and stretching extensively). Go figure!

I love love jeans and would wear them everydayn.my favorite are Gap's Long and Lean which I found out has been discontinued so I cleaned out the local Gap store last week of their size 8 . I can dress down and dress up ( up to a point) with jeans depending on how I accessorize. I wear them with sandals, sneakers, heels, and boots. I wear them with tee shirts, silk shirts, cashmire sweaters, etc.

I especially love when my jeans are broken in because they are like a second skin.

Ditto! But my fave brands/styles are the Nudie High Kai and J Brand Maria. I also have a few Ksubi Spray on Skinny jeans. Love me some high waisted skinnies!

...only when I've had too much to eat.

I love sitting like this and none of my jeans will allow it without cutting off circulation. Took this just now.

Eta: I don't like to wear shoes either. I run warm and can't stand to have my feet and arms covered. Sleeveless year round!

Nope, as long as they fit right. I have the booty to end all booties, and it's hard to find the right fit that will allow me to sit without riding down and exposing the dreaded plumber's crack. With the right ones, I have zero issues with comfort.

If I don't have to sit very much, I do wear jeans. Paige petite fits me pretty well and the material is soft and stretchy. But even those feel like my legs are gonna bust out at the knees when I sit the way I like sitting. Maybe I need to stop sitting like that.

Denim is a relatively rigid fabric so you need jeans that fit well.
These are nearly impossible to find since bodies vary so much.

The only answer, for comfort, is to find jeans that do not constrict you anywhere, and accept that they will look loose/baggy in some places.

OW-ch!!! Fortekitty - that pic is making my knees hurt!! I think my joints are made of cement, so it would be impossible for me to ever achieve that much bend! I sure admire your ability to be so limber you can move like that

I have a pair of Gap Always Skinny jeans that fit like a glove! I love them! I also have a 5 year old pair of Levi's, nouveau boot cuts, that are my most favourite fit and fabric, but they are faded to a really pale denim and I much prefer the dark colour more. I go thru about 15 pairs of trying things on before I finally find a fit that works for my shape --- then I usually get 2 pairs and rotate thru my favourites. If they are dark and somewhat tailored, I can wear them at work with no issues. Its only on denim friday's I can wear the really faded Levi's.

I don't love jeans. I have 6 pairs that I rotate. I don't like belts at all, and my jeans are always feeling like they're falling down. Or like Kenny said, to be comfortable in one area, they are loose somewhere else. I am retired. I wear whatever I want. I have a set of clothes that are never seen by anyone else outside of my house! I also go barefoot year round which makes snow an issue sometimes. Plus I run too warm and have ultra sensitive skin sometimes. :rodent:

Me! :wavey: I LOATHE wearing jeans! When I wear them I feel like all my organs are going to explode and there is always somewhere that is pinching...it doesn't seem to matter the size either! it's either pinchy-organ-explosion or falling off my rear ...it's even more frustrating since my FI's solution to any outfit conundrums that I have seems to be "just throw some jeans on" ... ARRGGGHH!

I will say though, the most comfortable "jeans" that I own are the Paige and Joe's Jeggings. They don't make me want to ;(

HI:

I wear jeans now more than ever--love the printed and colored denim. So, no I don't find them troublesome.

Have you tried some of the Guess jeans? They have the softest black slacks--that technically are jeans but are such soft fabric. I am on pair #2!

cheer--Sharon

do you go barefoot outside ? just curious .
I hate jeans myself ,my favorite pants are the velour ones .

I find jeans insanely uncomfortable - I hate having to hoick them up every time I stand up, very unattractive!
I'm thinking it must just be a problem with the size of my behind?

Yes I do. It's a terrible habit! I've only stepped out in snow to pick up the newspaper on the porch or things like that. Well, recently anyway. When I was young, I would go farther than that out of laziness. Now I try to have slip on garden shoes by the doors. :cheeky:

Nope, but I know plenty of people who don't like, or find jeans comfortable so you're in good company.

I gotta be honest though, I don't feel completely comfortable unless I am in a pair of jeans. Preferably a faded pair of Levis.

I'm not a pretty gal, don't have a gorgeous mane of hair, didn't inherit the beautiful green/bedroom eyes of my family, and wear glasses, but I do look pretty fab from the waist down, especially in a pair of the above. Go figure.

Better than nothin' I guess.

Mind you, I think not being constricted in the middle region is a good idea especially for digestion. GERD sidelined me for a few years and I'm careful not to wear anything too tight anymore.

I live in jeans. I am careful to pick comfortable ones, which means trying on many, many pairs. I used to be a size 6-8, back then I wore primarily Levi's or Guess. I'm now a bit larger & try to find pairs with some spandex blend. Just bought an adorable pair of print straight leg jeans. Now I'm shopping for cute colored straight leg denim. I find them very comfortable & love that I no longer have to wear more formal clothes due to my career change.

Nope. Only thing I wear are jeans. I have literally a single pair of pants that are not jeans (excluding pj pants which are all sock monkey print and I wouldn't be caught dead in outside my house!) that I think are tolerable and they're cargos made from cotton twill. I generally feel trapped in anything else bec I feel insanely uncomfy.

Er... I wear shirts. I felt like I needed to clarify that I don't walk around naked on top.

I wear jeans every day. I work in finance and am allowed to wear them to work (slot machine company, so very casual environment). I can't remember the last time I wore something other than jeans. My favorite brand is Miss Me.

Not a fan. I love the yoga pants craze - I much prefer those to jeans. It's not even that they're too tight - it's just that the fabric is too stiff and not as comfortable. I shed them and change into PJs or yoga pants as soon as I get home (also because I don't like wearing outdoor clothes indoors - I'm like Sheldon with his bus pants).

Cotton twill is actually what jeans are made of! Usually there is 1-2% stretch involved. Just sayin' :wavey:

Second Circe on Hudson jeans! They are the most comfortable jeans I have ever worn--I wore my favorite pair until they were in danger of ripping at any moment. They are like yoga pants. I have saved them until I can find someone who can repair them so I can wear them again. I also have 2 pair of the signature--one in regular length, one in 'supermodel' (36" inseam) to wear w/heels (I'm 5'10") and a pair of skinny cargo jeans in olive.

Hudson w/POP is amazing. It holds its shape really well and is stretchy and comfortable.

I tried on the Hudson x ISKO at Nordstrom Rack last weekend and I am in love with the fabric--it's a stretchy super soft knit. I think they have that line in several styles. I would have bought a pair, but I'm a bit heavier than I'd like right now.

The only place jeans are uncomfortable is a plane ride, but I'm so uncomfortable on planes my tolerance is next to zero.

The regular Gap jeans aren't flattering to me, a couple if weeks ago I lucked up at Ann Taylor and finally found a pair that was comfortable AND flattering!

Yes, I second this request. :cheeky:

(I think with jeans fit is critical and it might take trying on a lot of different brands to find the fit that works best. More so than other types of clothing).

I am exactly the same. If I'm not in a dress, I'm in jeans. I love them!
