My thoughts are,

1. EGL is rather lenient (except USA division), and you often don''t get what is represented

2. Ebay is a no no for diamond buying, just too risky

i agree on ebay not being suitable but they are a reputable jeweller so thought i might go down there and have a look

if someone who knows about egl stone could advise on this one ,,,,

As Ellen said, you have to expect that you won''t get a price that is too good to be true, so something such as color or clarity is probably lower than stated. I have seen a couple of EGL H&A stones on a PS vendor''s site, but I trust that source because they do their own testing and can verifiy if the specs are accurate. There are legitimate jewelers who sell on ebay such as Pearlman''s and Signed Pieces. So I won''t say never buy on ebay, but I''d never buy without knowing who the vendor is and their return policy if buying an expensive item. If you had a certain return policy on an item like this, you''d have to have time to get an independent appraisal to really know what you bought.
