Hi everyone!

I have been lurking for a while this is my first post :-).

I was looking at these two diamonds. What do people think of J color diamonds? Can you really see any tint to it, especially once its set? I don''t think I am overly color sensitive. The two diamonds below are from whiteflash one is an ACA and one is an expert selection. Wondering if the 1K difference is worth it. Diamond is for an e-ring we hope to purchase this summer. (Though not sure what diamonds will be available then.)

Thanks for looking!

Just fixing the links.

Personally I can't see any tint at all in a J colour, I was examining a GIA graded J of top cut recently in fact.

If you aren't sure see if you can view some AGS0 of similar size in a J colour if there is a Jareds near you, or Hearts on Fire. Both diamonds look great, it depends on whether you want the pedigree of the h&a branded diamond or just a great cut will do. Either could be an excellent choice.

thanks for fixing the links :-).

I don''t think I have a Jared''s near me. Don''t think I necessarily need the branded cut diamond, just a well cut one.

Both look good to me too.

I'm a huge fan of J color. J and K. And lower. Please do a search because there are whole threads here about J colored diamonds. You can see pages of them at one time and read owners' comments. Good luck.

That is a nice ring soocool. I looked at a thread started by mara and there are a lot of beautiful j''s out there.

Both are beautiful! J''s can be a very lovely colour.

Some would probably disagree with me but judging by the looks of both diamonds, the 1K premium is not worth it IMO.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful responses.

I am also inclined to think the expert selection is the better buy.
Maybe I''ll get lucky and it will be around for a while.

I purhcased a J from WF and can see absolutely no color tint at all........unless I were to turn the loose diamond upside down and place it next to a lower grade color. Since I will never again turn it upside down and it is in the setting, I am completely satisfied that I sacrificed unseen color grade for a larger diamond. And the 1K premium is not worth it, imo. I made the same decision, went with a .91 instead of 1.11 because I couldnt justify an extra 1K for a bigger diamond that only increased the finger coverage from 38% to 39%....

Either diamond looks great to me. I would go for the cheaper one and have more money on the setting.

I would go for the 1.606 carat. It is more expensive but it is also ACA Hearts and arrows (Ideal cut) I think in the long run your will be glad your spent the extra $

Bummer, someone bought the expert selection. Makes me sad
