Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for <1 carat, VS1,VS2, SI1, SI2(eye clean), H, I, J(w/ fluorescence), K(w/ fluorescence). Budget of $4500 or less...

Thank you in advance,
Russell

Unfortunately, with diamond prices the way they are, you are really looking at less than a carat with that budget. I just wouldn't consider K color for an e-ring. J at the lowest and SI1 unless you are very lucky and find a good SI2.

Looks like it'll take $5150+ to get into a 1 ct. J SI1 excellent cut. You'd need to ask for the idealscope images for James Allen stones and ask if the stone is eyeclean from the top and sides.

This is a beautiful ring and setting...and a great price. Just reduced....

Totally think you should go for this.

What does everyone think of this stone? Will the strong fluorescence make the diamond seem whiter?

Thank you

Fluorescence only happens in the presence of ultraviolet light, or light that has some UV content.
Sunlight has UV in it, but many indoor lights don't so the blue fluorescence can not help the diamond look less yellow, brown or grey.

I would not buy that diamond; It's too deep.
Some light will leak out the side and bottom instead of returning back out the top to your eyes.
It might look pretty if you don't know any better, at least until you put it next to one that is well cut.

If you want a well-cut round use the HCA first to weed out bad ones like this one.
It's easy.
Just go to this link: https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca
Enter these four numbers that you get from the plot on the GIA report.
1. Depth %
2. Table %
3. Crown Angle in degrees
4. Pavilion Angle in degrees
Click GO

Reject diamonds that score over 2.0.
Get Idealscope pics on those that score under 2.0.

You are lucky you are shopping for a round.
The HCA only works for rounds, and there is no equivalent tool for other cuts.

Notice the darkness under the table on the Deep diamonds of the lower half of the Idealscope Reference Chart.

Now notice the similar darkness under the table of the diamond you posted, which is now on hold:

If you place this poorly-cut 1-ct diamond next to a well-cut 0.90 ct the smaller one will look brighter and may actually seem larger.
Also deep diamonds have a smaller diameter so they face up smaller.
All these disadvantages, just to say you have a 1-ct.

Thanks Kenny,
I thought i did input through HCA. But I guess I did not. I will really consider the one that you suggested. Would you recommend going smaller, better color and clarity?

Thank you
Russell

I would not go under J color. You can see some tint in a J stone, but it will look good face up if it is well cut. I prefer higher clarity and I think Kenny does too, but you will have no choice but to look at SI1-SI2 if you want to go to a carat at $4500. I'd personally rather have the I color .90 than a lower cut/color/clarity 1 ct.
